Jamie Laing Breaks Down After Ultra Marathon Struggle Raises £500k for Charity

During his tough Ultra Marathons competition, Jamie Laing vomited while running on day four, which was on a Thursday.

36-year-old BBC Radio 1 host, who confessed to having a completely wrecked body, has now amassed an astonishing £500,000 in donations for Comic Relief.

As a dedicated follower, I’m thrilled because hitting the milestone amount implies that Greg James will be running with me this coming Friday, donning a wedding dress.

Jamie’s second-to-last course will lead him on a run starting from Kegworth, proceeding through Belper, continuing with Derby, and finally ending up in Matlock.

On Wednesday night, following the end of his third day, he remarked, “Without a doubt, that was the most challenging feat I’ve encountered throughout my existence.

Today, I reached the midway mark, which was approximately 25 kilometers into the journey, and for a moment, I felt like I couldn’t continue. At that point, I thought I had exhausted all my energy and called it quits.

He went on saying: “It was truly awe-inspiring to dash through the throng at Loughborough, it was simply astonishing. And to top it off, Oli and Soph surprising me today left me utterly stunned.

Currently, I’m finding myself in a whirlwind of circumstances – I feel like I’ve hit rock bottom, physically and emotionally exhausted, with fears looming about what tomorrow may bring. Yet, amidst this turmoil, there’s an indescribable sense of positivity that persists. I may be bruised and battered, but I’m ready to rise again. Let’s press on!

On Thursday morning, it became known through Matt that the total donations had surpassed £510,000, an impressive figure that left Jamie in tears.

Jamie is going to have his friend and ex-castmate from Made In Chelsea, Josh Patterson, accompany him. Josh will offer emotional encouragement throughout the journey.

Funds collected during Radio 1’s Ultra Marathon event, featuring Jamie, for Red Nose Day will be crucial in ensuring meals are served and homes are provided, maintaining safety for young children, and aiding families impacted by domestic conflicts – both here in our country and globally.

Jamie’s performance during the first day of the ultra marathon left high expectations as he finished in just 5 hours and 44 minutes, consuming approximately 4,000 calories in the process.

Overcome with emotion after finishing day three, Jamie embraced his friend Proudlock.

Addressing Jamie, Proudlock remarked: “You can do it! I’m incredibly proud of you, my friend. It’s not often I see you tear up.

He remarked: “Indeed, it seems I am quite emotional – witnessing the video of you two earlier, as your eyes filled with tears, it brought tears to my own eyes during my journey here on the train.

‘Dude I can tell how hard it is, but you’re doing it mate, you’re crushing it.

Over the past fifteen years, there have been numerous instances when I felt incredibly proud of you, but this moment takes the cake as the most pride-inducing. I’ve never felt more proud than I do now. In fact, I’ve never been this proud before.

For Red Nose Day, Radio 1 is hosting a live ultra marathon event titled “Ultra Marathon Man” featuring Jamie Laing. This special program will air not only on Radio 1 but also on BBC Sounds throughout the week. Video highlights from the event will be shared on Radio 1’s social media platforms.
