James Wan’s new project Teacup gets first trailer at SDCC 2024

As a hardcore horror fan and avid gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement for James Wan’s latest production, “Teacup,” coming soon to Peacock. Wan’s past works in the horror genre have left me on the edge of my seat, and his latest project is no exception. Although he won’t be directly behind the camera this time, his involvement as an executive producer ensures that the series will carry his signature style.

I’m a big fan of James Wan’s horror masterpieces, such as Saw, Insidious, Conjuring, and Malignant. Though he’s been focusing more on producing lately due to his new collaboration with Blumhouse, he hasn’t slowed down when it comes to delivering terrifying films for audiences to enjoy at theaters. However, his upcoming producing project, Teacup, will be a change of pace as it premieres exclusively on Peacock.

At the San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, the panel for the show unveiled its unique brand of eerie elements and dropped the first insights. They also premiered the spine-tingling teaser trailer for the upcoming series.

In simpler terms, this teaser isn’t packed with action, just a spooky-looking teacup spinning while red-painted scenes border the edges. It doesn’t provide much insight into the show, but it manages to pique our interest regardless.

In a rural Georgia setting, a small band of individuals find themselves pinned between the jaws of a terrifying and enigmatic danger, as depicted in the novel “Stinger” by Robert McCammon, which serves as the basis for this series.

Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, and Chaske Spencer are set to star in the new show “Teacup.” Directing duties will be taken on by E.L. Katz, who has previous experience working with Mike Flanagan on “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Although this marks Wan’s most significant involvement in a TV production to date, he has previously served as an executive producer for shows like “Archive 81,” “Swamp Thing” for DC, and the 2016 “MacGyver” reboot. Wan himself will not be directing but will continue in his role as an executive producer.

Teacup is set to debut on Peacock on Oct. 10.
