James Van Der Beek gets another heartbreaking Dawson’s Creek tribute as GoFundMe nears $3m

Meredith Monroe recently honored her former Dawson’s Creek colleague, James Van Der Beek, after his passing. A fundraising campaign created in his memory has already raised $2.7 million.

Monroe played Andie McPhee on the show from 1998 to 2003. 

The actress, age 56, found it difficult to talk about the recent loss of her friend to cancer. She’s been constantly thinking about him, his wife Kimberly, and their six kids.

She shared on Instagram that she’s still struggling to find the right words after two weeks. She’s been thinking of James, Kimberly, their children, and their families constantly, and keeping them in her thoughts and prayers.

Thinking back on our friendship over the years has brought back so many happy memories, and this is what I’ve gained from them.

The impact you have on others is your lasting gift. You consistently share your unique spirit – whether in personal conversations, social gatherings, creative work, or simply how you engage with the world. This shines through your sense of humor, your genuine curiosity, and the time and effort you invest in people and the world around you. You have a gift for making others feel at ease, being truly present, and offering sincere friendship, kindness, and love.

She then went on to direct Van Der Beek directly as she expressed her wishes for his family.

She wished James that all the love and support he’s fostered around the world would return to his wife, Kimberly, his wonderful children, and his entire family.

Soon after the post went live, actresses Katie Holmes and Busy Philipps, both known for their roles on Dawson’s Creek, showed their support by liking it.

Holmes previously shared a heartfelt message celebrating his ‘journey of a hero.’

Riley Keough, known for her role in Logan Lucky and daughter of Tom Cruise and Suri, has promised to support the family of her late brother, James, including his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.

She expressed unwavering support for Kimberly and her children, promising continued love and compassion.

Holmes admitted James’ death is a ‘lot to process’.

She shared a heartfelt message, saying she was deeply saddened and trying to come to terms with the news. She expressed her gratitude for having known James, describing him as a truly loved person. She also sent her love and unwavering support to Kimberly and her children, offering to be there for them always.

Actress Philipps, who played Audrey Liddell on the show, shared photos with James on Instagram, expressing her deep sadness.
