James Van Der Beek diagnosed with colorectal cancer
As a long-time fan who has grown up with James Van Der Beek through his iconic roles, it’s heartening to see him facing a challenging health issue like colorectal cancer with courage and optimism. It’s a testament to his character that he has been dealing with this privately and taking necessary steps towards recovery.
Actor James Van Der Beek announced that he has been privately coping with a colorectal cancer diagnosis, as reported by People magazine.
The 47-year-old actor, recognized for his part in the teen drama show “Dawson’s Creek,” has stated that he’s making efforts to manage the cancer situation.
“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,” Van Der Beek told People.
In “Dawson’s Creek,” James Van Der Beek portrayed Dawson, the main character of the show, who was a budding movie-maker and had a friendship with a woman that he was unaware of her romantic feelings for him at first.
In the television show “Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23,” the actor is recognized for portraying a character based on himself, a once-popular figure now known as “The Creek’s Ex-Star.” This character is depicted as being somewhat arrogant and out of touch.
In his interview with The Times in 2012, he expressed that the ego poses a significant hurdle for artists and performers, so opportunities to dismantle it are actually beneficial for their overall well-being.
Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly have six children.
His upcoming ventures involve a Tubi romance film titled “Sidelined: The QB and Me” and a TV special called “The Real Full Monty,” during which he, along with other famous personalities, will engage in a strip tease to promote prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer screenings and research.
