What to Read Next
Back in March of this year, I was thrilled when Norton himself announced a new TV project at a Series Mania masterclass. This isn’t just any project; I’m diving headfirst into it, and trust me, there’s more to come about my role. But here’s what I can share: aside from taking up a major part on screen (details later), I’ve also got my production company, Rabbit Track Pictures, on board to produce the series. Can’t wait to bring this project to life!
Another well-known name is also involved in this project, joining forces with Jack Thorne – the writer of last year’s hit show Adolescence, one of the most successful and acclaimed series of 2025 so far. Interestingly, this isn’t their first collaboration; Norton previously starred in the British film Joy, for which Thorne wrote the screenplay.
Kitty Kaletsky, managing partner and co-creator of Rabbit Track Pictures, has revealed that Thorne has penned an outstanding pilot script for Wavewalker: Breaking Free, making it impossible not to be eagerly anticipate the show’s debut on our television screens.
What is Wavewalker: Breaking Free about?
The show will be adapted from Suzanne Heywood’s memoir of the same name, published in 2023.
At the age of seven, Suzanne Heywood embarked on a three-year global journey with her family. However, this trip transformed into a decade-long experience filled with challenges such as storms, shipwrecks, encounters with reefs and isolation, accompanied by minimal formal education.
The narrative also mentions that “Wavewalker” is an extraordinary tale, describing how a thrilling adventure for a youngster turned into his most terrifying nightmare.
The book has been called “astonishing” by the Telegraph and also praised for its thrilling, chilling, and eloquent writing style, according to quotes attributed to Ed Balls.
Who is in the cast for the Wavewalker TV series?
Initially, Norton didn’t plan to act in the series; however, his passion for sailing, making him a “bit of a boat man,” led him to accept the role as Heywood’s father. He found the part to be “amazing.” (Source: Deadline)
We haven’t revealed the new actors for “Wavewalker: Breaking Free” just yet, but stay tuned, we’ll share the news with you as soon as it becomes available.
What is the release date for Wavewalker with James Norton?

There hasn’t been any news regarding the production of the new TV adaptation of Wavewalker since its initial announcement, which makes it difficult to predict or guess when we could potentially watch it on our screens.
