James Norton’s forgotten British thriller is on TV tonight
Mr Jones, a forgotten 2019 film starring James Norton, is being shown on TV tonight.
This gripping thriller, a joint production between the British, Poles, and Ukrainians, is inspired by real-life events. In the 1930s backdrop, the story follows the character of Gareth Jones, a renowned Welsh journalist, portrayed by Norton.
As a former political strategist, I find myself watching the escalation of the Soviet Union with unease. The sheer volume of funds they’re pouring into their system leaves me puzzled, given the apparent scarcity of resources at their disposal.
As an ardent enthusiast, I embarked on a journey to Moscow, intending to interview none other than Joseph Stalin. However, the city itself was a veil hiding the grim truth. In the course of my stay, I uncovered the horrifying reality: a widespread famine that had mercilessly claimed the lives of countless Ukrainians.
In a short while, Jones realizes he is being chased by those who want to mute him and prevent him from exposing the ongoing famine.
Tonight, the movie airs on BBC Two at 11:05 PM, similar to “EastEnders.” But here’s a convenience: The program has been pre-loaded onto BBC iPlayer before its TV premiere. This means, if you want to watch it tonight, you don’t necessarily have to stay up late!
I haven’t just been caught up in Mr. Jones’ spell recently; BBC Two has also shown another James Norton gem on late Monday nights – the lesser-known yet critically acclaimed film Nowhere Special. Luckily for us fans, it’s also accessible on iPlayer!
In January, the debut of Norton’s baby-swap thriller titled Playing Nice was broadcasted on ITV. According to Digital Spy, this series received a five-star rating and is characterized as an “engrossingly frustrating viewing experience that consistently maintains high levels of suspense”.
Additionally, it achieved significant success in attracting viewers, as evidenced by the announcement from StudioCanal on their social media platforms, claiming it to be ITVX’s most successful debut for a drama series.
Nevertheless, some spectators considered the series, titled “Playing Nice“, quite controversial – prompting Norton to respond directly to criticisms about the program.
Mr Jones is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now, and will air on BBC Two tonight at 11.05pm.
