James Norton hilariously addresses James Bond rumours after Playing Nice ‘clue’
In simpler terms, James Norton humorously responded to speculations about him becoming the new James Bond, triggered by an apparent hint in his recent show titled “Playing Nice“.
On the BAFTA Red Carpet event, the actor got interviewed by Alex Zane, who shared that the actor remained the top choice for assuming the legendary spy role.
“Am I? Whoever’s deciding on these odds needs to get a new job,” Norton laughed in response.
When asked about the rumors, the celebrity responded: “I feel the same as I did before; it’s bizarre and puzzling all over again. It’s speculation at its core, providing a bit of sensationalism in the media. Otherwise, it’s just amusing and confusing.
Later on, Zane emphasized a potential piece of evidence supporting the James Bond theories he proposed. He drew attention to a specific moment in the movie “Playing Nice,” where Norton’s character stood out as the only individual not dressed in a tuxedo during a formal gathering.
It appears that selecting a wardrobe for projects outside of playing James Bond suggests an unspoken rule or understanding, where actors portraying James Bond are expected not to wear a tuxedo in other roles.
When asked about the theory, Norton retorted with a witty, sarcastic comment. He quipped, “If that isn’t proof enough to close the case, I’m at a loss for what would be.
The character’s discomfort in wearing a tux and being low-key has no bearing on the situation at hand; it’s immaterial. It’s as clear as daylight, you’ve caught me if that’s what you were wondering. Kudos to whoever noticed, you’re right on the mark. I’m not going to confirm or deny anything about it.
The ITV drama titled “Playing Nice” tells the story of Pete (Norton) and Maddie (Niamh Algar), who go through a harrowing experience when they find out their child was exchanged at birth. This four-episode series premiered recently, and though it faced viewer criticism, it set a new record as the most successful drama launch on ITVX to date.
Playing Nice is available to stream on ITVX.
