James Nesbitt’s 2014 police drama is now on Netflix

As a seasoned gamer of both life and television dramas, I can confidently say that the recent addition of James Nesbitt’s masterpieces, “Babylon” and “Suspect,” to Netflix’s vast library is nothing short of a victory for us binge-watching enthusiasts.

James Nesbitt’s 2014 police drama Babylon is now available to watch on Netflix.

In this rephrased version, a seven-episode show originally broadcast on Channel 4 tells the story of Liz Garvey, an American PR specialist played by Brit Marling. She is recruited by Richard Miller, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner portrayed by Nesbitt, to overhaul the communications unit within the police force.

Yet, Liz encounters challenges from legal red tape and resistance within the organization regarding her pioneering media tactics.

The cast also features Daniel Kaluuya, who won an Oscar, Nicola Walker from “Mary & George,” Paterson Joseph known for playing Wonka, Bertie Carvel from “Doctor Foster,” Stuart Martin of “Rebel Moon,” Jim Howick, a star from “Ghosts,” and Jill Halfpenny, who appeared in “The Long Shadow.”

In the movie Babylon, it’s Danny Boyle who takes the director’s chair, whereas the talented duo Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong were responsible for writing both Peep Show and Fresh Meat.

The television series has earned a new rating of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes from 19 reviews. Critics’ consensus on the site is: “Babylon” skillfully blends two genres, featuring talented actors and relevant themes alongside sharp humor and intense drama.

Besides Babylon, another Channel 4 series featuring Nesbitt that can be found on Netflix is Suspect, which made its debut on the platform earlier in the month of May 2022.

In the current Netflix production of Harlan Coben’s series titled “Missing You,” Nesbitt takes on the role of detective Danny Frater. This character is engrossed in solving the enigma surrounding the demise of his long-estranged daughter.

Actors such as Anne-Marie Duff from Sex Education, Ben Miller known for Death in Paradise, Sacha Dhawan who was in Doctor Who, Sam Heughan of Outlander, Niamh Algar from Malpractice, and Richard E Grant are all part of the cast.

Suspect originally aired on Channel 4 in 2019 and has now run for three seasons.

Babylon and Suspect are now available to watch on Netflix.
