Even dedicated James McAvoy fans may not have known about his 2025 thriller, Pose, until it became available on Prime Video in the UK this past Sunday. Originally called Turn Up the Sun!, the film didn’t play in UK cinemas, but has quickly become popular with streaming viewers.
Jamie Adams’s film centers on two couples who unexpectedly find themselves sharing the same weekend getaway at a manor house. What starts as a relaxing break quickly descends into a mind game where appearances are deceiving.
The show Pose unexpectedly appeared on Prime Video in the UK on Sunday and has quickly become one of the most popular titles. Currently, it’s the third most-watched program, following Afterburn starring Dave Bautista and the John Wick spin-off Ballerina.

What makes the film Pose stand out is that it was created entirely through improvisation. The actors, including Lucas Bravo from Emily in Paris and Aisling Franciosi, who also appeared with James McAvoy in Speak No Evil, were given a basic storyline and then freely created the scenes themselves.
This is the second time James McAvoy has appeared in a largely unscripted thriller, after starring in 2021’s My Son alongside Claire Foy.

Opinions on the movie Pose are all over the map. Some viewers on IMDb call it terrible and a waste of time, while others find it surprisingly touching and enjoyable.
You can watch Pose on Prime Video now if you want to see it for yourself. If you don’t have a Prime membership, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial to start watching.
I’m really excited to see James McAvoy in his new movie, California Schemin’. It’s a crazy true story about this Scottish rap duo, Silibil N’ Brains, who pretended to be American for three years and actually became really famous! Even cooler, this is James’ first time directing a film, which is awesome. It’s a shame Pose didn’t hit theaters, but I’m definitely checking this one out!
Sadly, McAvoy isn’t one of the rappers in the movie, but it is very good all the same.
Pose is available to watch now on Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends is out now, and this edition celebrates the incredible Dolly Parton! You can purchase “Dolly at 80” at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
