James May announces big career move: “I’m going live”

I, an ardent enthusiast, am thrilled to share that the legendary James May, once a captivating presence on Top Gear, is venturing beyond our television screens and heading Down Under for his upcoming project!

In this presentation, the host will lead an engaging live program titled “Explorers – The Age of Discovery“. Here, he’ll vividly recount tales of remarkable explorers who braved through deserts, conquered mountains, and ventured into uncharted territories.

Announced on Instagram, May shared that her upcoming project is a live show titled “Explorers,” which will be broadcast from Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The series will feature various individuals such as hunter-gatherers, astronauts, and herself discussing different topics.

Starting in July, he plans to organize a sequence of shows across the countries listed in his recent post. Following that, he’ll be back in the UK for some performances during the fall season.

This live performance seamlessly blends dramatic elements with James’ captivating narrative, resulting in a thought-provoking and enjoyable intellectual experience, as described by Lateral Events.

The tales of well-known, lesser-known, and even forgotten explorers – from Ice Age wanderings to modern space voyages – will be vividly brought to the stage in a dramatic fashion.

On the show, some notable explorers who will be highlighted include Leif Erikson, John Cabot, Tupaia (James Cook’s navigator), Stanley and Livingstone, as well as Gertrude Bell. The series, Explorers, will also recognize the moon walkers and delve into the realm of space exploration.

This past month saw May reconnecting with his former “Top Gear” colleague, Richard Hammond, for a visit to the show’s set, a decade following their departure from the program.

At the beginning of the video he shared on his Planet Gin YouTube channel,” May mentioned, “this is the old Top Gear studio. This was our gathering spot, where we brainstormed scripts, debated, and even had disagreements in the green room.

Both speakers concurred they experienced an unusual sensation upon their reunion, with Hammond expressing: “I find it quite peculiar being back here… The last time I was here, I was saying goodbye after the final recording session. I was in the Land Rover made of bronze. And I looked around and thought, well, that chapter has closed.
