James Haskell’s debt hits £1.5 million amid legal row over damaged property at his failed rented gym
It has come to light that James Haskell is facing financial difficulties, as he is now involved in a legal dispute with his landlord concerning the damages to property and equipment from his shuttered fitness enterprise.
Once upon a time, a well-known rugby player, aged 40, established an F45 fitness studio in Bath about seven years back. Unfortunately, this business could not withstand the impact of the pandemic and currently faces a substantial debt of close to £1 million.
As per its recent financial reports, Hask 45 (Bath) Ltd discloses they are engaged in a prolonged legal argument with their landlord regarding rental payments, as well as maintenance issues related to repairing property damages and equipment.
The company currently owes £927,738, but £437,000 of this debt is actually due to one of the individual’s other companies that are 40 years old.
During the pandemic, growth initiatives for our fitness business were put on hold; specifically, Hask 45 (Manchester) Ltd closed in March 2021, while Hask 45 (Richmond) Ltd was forced to close its doors in September 2022.

I can’t help but feel a pang every time I think about it, but as a devoted fan, I’ve learned that Hask 45 Ltd, one of his companies, is in a tough spot financially. Reports show they’re currently £456,367 in debt, and if things don’t change by May 2024, it looks like this could be a long haul. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he can work his magic and turn this around!
It’s worth mentioning that James additionally manages two more sports-related businesses that are experiencing financial difficulties. Specifically, James Haskell Health & Fitness is facing a loss of £58,318, and Rugby Connections UK is currently indebted to the tune of £68,855.
The combined debt of the four companies totals £1,511,278. Back in 2017, the former England soccer player initially shared his intentions to establish a F45 fitness franchise location.
He mentioned that while he was vacationing in the U.S., he gave F45 a try. He found the circuit-based training to be both entertaining and captivating.
‘The exercises I do to prepare for rugby are similar to what most people require for overall fitness, and for many individuals, attending F45 workouts consistently is sufficient to maintain and improve their fitness levels.’
It seems to me that there’s a strong demand for a user-friendly, team-oriented fitness regimen that doesn’t feel overwhelming, and above all, provides outstanding outcomes. That’s exactly what F45 represents, which is why I’m thrilled to be a part of it!
I’ve held a longstanding affection for Bath, a city that boasts a profound rugby heritage and an energetic, health-conscious populace – characteristics that align perfectly with our preferred clientele and aspirations.
In the recent past, James talked about the factors that led to the conclusion of his five-year marriage with Chloe Madeley.

Haskell (age 37), daughter of TV hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, parted ways with her partner when their child, Bodhi, was only a year old.
He explained his love of boozing contributed to the demise of their union.
Haskell mentioned that if he had invested more time into his marriage than he did into brewing Guinness, he likely wouldn’t be divorced at this point.
At the Pub in the Park event held in western London, James expressed that his connection with Chloe has significantly improved.
In response to your query,
“Life has its ups and downs, and sometimes things just don’t go as planned. Yet, I’m filled with immense love for my daughter and Chloe. It’s all about teamwork.
He mentioned: ‘What often gets overlooked is that when a marriage ends and you have children, it’s primarily about their wellbeing. Chloe and I make excellent co-parents. Our focus is always on Bodhi.’
Haskell confirmed that he is currently unattached, having been romantically linked with advertising executive Helen Barclay earlier this year.
He expresses that he’s not actively involved in dating, as his focus lies elsewhere for now. He doesn’t feel a strong desire to be with someone, instead choosing to enjoy his own company and contentment.
‘My focus is, obviously, saying goodbye to my dad, work, and being the best dad in the best order.’
