Following James Gunn‘s portrayal of Superman exposing Lex Luthor’s reliance on alternate universes for his wicked schemes, there has been much speculation about whether the technology employed by the malevolent billionaire is related to the Quantum Unfolding Chamber depicted in Peacemaker. In a recent conversation, Gunn addressed this intriguing fan question and offered insights into the potential link between Luthor and Peacemaker’s father.

James Gunn on where Auggie Smith’s Quantum Unfolding Chamber came from

During the most recent installment of Peacemaker’s official podcast, hosted by James Gunn, there was a question posed about if Peacemaker’s father had teamed up with Lex Luthor to create the technology for the Quantum Unfolding Chamber.

At first, Gunn carefully avoided giving away any early secrets about Peacemaker Season 2. However, inadvertently sharing some previously revealed details, he later composed himself and shared a hint: “In the next episode, we’ll find out where he obtained the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, beginning from episode four.”

In simpler terms, I’d say the Quantum Unfolding Chamber is essentially a tiny, otherworldly dimension crafted by Auggie Smith, the father of Peacemaker. This special place serves as a storage for advanced weaponry he created, along with his son’s assortment of helmets and other items.

Remarkably, Lex Luthor applied a comparable technology in Superman for imprisoning foes and executing tasks. Whether Auggie Smith and Luthor collaborated at some point to construct these multiverse portals is unclear. But, further insights might be revealed in Episode 4 of Peacemaker Season 2.

It’s been affirmed that the Quantum Unfolding Chamber will be vital to the future of the DCU. In a previous episode of the official Peacemaker podcast, it was mentioned by the director of Guardians of the Galaxy: “Over the course of two seasons of Peacemaker and beyond, the QUC assumes great significance in the DCU.

So far, the new season of the show starring John Cena has broadcasted three out of a total of eight episodes. Each episode is set to debut every other Thursday, either at 9 p.m. Eastern Time or 6 p.m. Pacific Time, on the streaming platform that was previously known as Max.
