Hey fellow film enthusiasts, hold up on your excitement for the anticipated live-action Teen Titans movie! It appears that, despite the buzz, no concrete plans seem to be finalized yet.
During a Q&A session on Threads regarding upcoming movies in the DC Universe, DC Studios’ co-head James Gunn clarified several widespread speculations concerning “The Batman Part II” and the studio’s intended “Teen Titans” movie.
In response to a now-removed question from a fan about whether Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, would make an appearance as Robin in the upcoming movie, the director promptly dismissed the idea.
Everything you’ve heard concerning the film ‘Teen Titans’ is speculation or assumption. As far as we know, only four individuals are privy to the plot idea for this movie,” Gunn revealed.
In March 2024, it was revealed that Ana Nogueira, who writes Supergirl, would write the script for DC’s live-action Teen Titans movie. However, Gunn recently stated that the Teen Titans script hasn’t been created yet because Nogueira has been working on the script for the reboot of Wonder Woman in the DC Universe instead, which she’s been doing for some time now.
Gunn explained that he instructed Ana to prioritize completing the task first at [Wonder Woman’s location], which she followed. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Teen Titans movie is currently paused until a finalized script is ready.
2026 marks my eager anticipation for the big-screen debut of “Supergirl”! This upcoming movie falls under the DCU’s exciting new chapter, titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, following the 2025 release of the “Superman” film.
James Gunn Shoots Down The Batman Part II Villain Speculation
During his Q&A session on Threads, James Gunn clarified a speculation about the forthcoming “The Batman” sequel featuring Robert Pattinson, which is set to premiere in cinemas around late 2027.

As for whether I, as a follower, can expect Thomas Elliot (also known as Hush) to face off against Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the sequel to the 2022 film, all speculation seems to be just educated guesses or imaginative scenarios at this point.
Basically, don’t believe everything you read on fan forums online.
The filming for “The Batman Part II,” initially announced in 2022, is about to start shortly after several postponements caused by the 2023 Hollywood labor conflicts and script complications.
The Best Superhero Movies Not From Marvel or DC

1. The Crow
In the spirit of a grunge-era comic book sensation, I found myself immersed in the 1994 cult classic, “The Crow.” This movie unfolds around a musician’s miraculous return from the grave, following an unspeakable tragedy on the eve of his wedding. Overwhelmed by grief for my lost love, I pledge supernatural vengeance and embark on a dark quest to hunt down and exact retribution upon those who took her life.
Stylish, atmospheric, and brimming with captivating action scenes, it’s a goth-rock revenge tale that still feels fresh and innovative while maintaining its timeless ’90s charm through its gritty aesthetic and soundtrack. Regrettably, this movie is forever associated with the untimely demise of its lead actor, Brandon Lee, who met his fate during filming.

2. The Incredibles
In a 1960s-inspired world that blends elements of the past and future, the film “The Incredibles” focuses on a superhero family forced to live in suburbia due to government restrictions. When an adversary with a personal grudge against Mr. Incredible hatches a plan to eliminate all superhumans, the family must reunite their powers to thwart him.
First released in 2004, this animated production from Pixar stands out as one of their most admired and critically acclaimed works. With its fast-paced action sequences and endearing characters, the movie offers a thoughtful narrative that explores themes such as conformity, family dynamics, and midlife discontent.

3. Chronicle
In 2012, the movie “Chronicle” unfolds the story of three Seattle high school students who stumble upon a mysterious object in the woods, which grants them telekinetic and flight abilities. At first, they employ these powers for amusement and to boost their popularity. However, things take a dark turn when one of the boys, struggling with inner turmoil, starts using his powers for violence. The intriguing sci-fi thriller skillfully combines the classic superhero origin tale, found footage, and teenage drama, immersing viewers in the emotional complexities and ethical dilemmas faced by these characters, culminating in a heartbreaking, aerial showdown.

4. Sky High
Disney’s “Sky High” blends the everyday drama of school life with the thrilling excitement of a comic book movie tailored for families. Featuring Kurt Russell as the endearing Commander, a beloved superhero, the film focuses on his teenager son who struggles to fit in at a hidden high school for superheroes despite lacking any powers. Despite being overlooked since its release in 2005, this film has gained cult status among fans today. While its appeal from the mid-2000s is undeniably nostalgic, it’s clear that “Sky High” was visionary in its time for its clever and humorous approach to superhero clichés.

5. Unbreakable
Unbreakable, released in 2000, is actually a superhero movie disguised as a psychological thriller. This film by M. Night Shyamalan, following his successful supernatural hit The Sixth Sense in 1999, features Bruce Willis as an ordinary janitor who gains extraordinary abilities after an accident. The grounded approach of the movie was somewhat undermined by a marketing strategy that overlooked its comic book roots. Despite this, it became a box-office success and is now widely recognized as one of the greatest superhero films ever made.

6. Kick Ass
As a cinephile diving into the realm of movie reviews, I must say that “Kick-Ass” (2010), directed by Matthew Vaughn, is a unique blend of black humor and high-octane action sequences, all drenched in raw violence. Despite its comic book origins under a creator-owned Marvel imprint, it’s essential to clarify that this film was not produced by Marvel Studios, thus “Kick-Ass” doesn’t officially belong to the Marvel Universe. But fear not, as the story of an ordinary high schooler transformed into a steel-skinned superhero is more than enough to captivate any audience.
In this gripping tale, our protagonist Dave dons a scuba suit to become “Kick-Ass,” only to find his first adventure turning sour. A subsequent operation bestows upon him a partially metal skeleton and a semblance of invincibility. However, things take a dark turn when his vigilante actions draw the attention of a ruthless crime boss, a former cop turned superhero, and his profane teenage sidekick known as Hit-Girl. The plot thickens as they navigate through a world where justice isn’t always black and white.

7. The Rocketeer
In the spirit of the original indie comic, Disney’s “The Rocketeer” follows a daring 1930s stunt pilot who transforms into a superhero when he dons a remarkable rocket pack. With gangsters, FBI agents, and Nazis chasing him, the Rocketeer ultimately unravels a nefarious plot linked to his advanced technology.
This movie is an affectionate homage to the exciting action serials of the ’30s, offering a thrilling, nostalgic journey filled with grand airships, Art Deco style, and classic Hollywood elegance. Despite bombing at the box office in 1991, it garnered praise from critics and has since grown into a cherished cult classic over the years.

8. Brightburn
The movie Brightburn explores the intriguing idea, “What if Superman had turned out evil instead?” Released in 2019 as a horror film, it tells the story of an alien child who arrives on Earth and is taken in by a farm-dwelling couple. Once he uncovers his extraordinary abilities, his behavior becomes increasingly sinister as he embraces a wicked fate.
In its final moments, Brightburn, directed by future Superman director James Gunn, delivers a chilling dose of violence and chaos that will leave you spellbound. The concept is captivatingly horrifying, with just the right mix of suspense and brutality to warrant another viewing.

9. Megamind
In the underrated DreamWorks Animation film, “Megamind,” Will Ferrell lends his voice to the dimwitted yet brilliant blue supervillain Megamind. Having finally defeated his longtime foe, Megamind finds himself aimless and yearns to create a new hero to fight against.
Despite some criticism for its storyline that seems familiar, “Megamind” is actually sharper and funnier than it’s given credit for. It carries a goofy mad scientist charm and offers family-friendly entertainment at its best. The “spee-ider” joke still tickles me!

10. Darkman
In a unique twist, Sam Raimi’s gritty 1990 horror-superhero movie stands out not only for its screenplay but also for its originality. Liam Neeson portrays a scientist brutally left for dead by criminals, who subsequently manages to live on and exacts his revenge using his own mask-making tech (and a troubled mind). This film blends gory action with dark comedy, making it appear as if a comic book scene has been brought to life after being drenched in blood.
Sam Raimi’s 1990 horror-superhero movie, a true original, is special for more than just its screenplay. Liam Neeson plays a scientist who endures being disfigured and abandoned by criminals; he then leverages his own mask-making technology (alongside a fractured psyche) to seek vengeance. Darkman combines gruesome action with black humor, giving the impression of a comic book panel springing to life after being splashed with blood.
