James Corden shares Gavin & Stacey script update
As a massive fan of Gavin & Stacey, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard James Corden sharing an update on the upcoming Christmas special during his appearance on Chris Evans Breakfast Show. I have been eagerly waiting for any news regarding the beloved BBC comedy since the last Christmas special left us with a cliffhanger proposal in 2019.
James Corden has shared an update on the upcoming Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
On Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show last Thursday (July 18), the actor from “Smithy” revealed that he and his writing partner, Ruth Jones, had finished writing the Christmas episode’s script at last.
Yesterday, he informed Evans on Virgin Radio, they had completed the task and celebrated with a drink together.
“We recently notified the actors through our small chat group with a picture, conveying that we had completed filming and made final revisions, and a script is now on its way to them,” he explained further.
“It’ll be going… I guess they’ll get the script, I guess, in the next few days.”
Back in June, I learned that we were planning to shoot our Christmas special in September or October. However, Ruth and I hadn’t wrapped up the scriptwriting process just yet.
In his latest update, Corden explained that he often finds “rewrites are harder than any writing”.
“Writing is really fun, because you can just go anything can happen,” he said.
When revising content, you encounter numerous complexities such as “We may not be able to film that scene” or “This part must be placed here. Can we make any adjustments?” Frankly, the process is excessively lengthy.
As a gamer, I’ve been focusing on minimizing expenses over the past few weeks. Every decision I make is geared towards saving resources and making the most out of what I have. It’s all about maximizing value while keeping costs low.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for any news about a possible return of “Gavin & Stacey” for the holidays. In May 2024, my excitement was finally validated when James Corden and Ruth Jones confirmed the show’s comeback after numerous rumors had swirled around for months. To make it even more thrilling, Corden even posted a photo of us two on Instagram, holding up a script with the title “Gavin and Stacey: The Finale.” I couldn’t contain my joy!
In more casual terms, the cherished BBC comedy aired its latest episode, which included a shocking proposal at the end and left viewers on tenterhooks, back in 2019 during the holiday season.
In the last moments of the episode, Nessa knelt before Smithy, but no answer was given to the question she had asked.
Gavin & Stacey series 1-3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
