During a speech at the Royal Television Society Awards on Tuesday, James Corden lauded Netflix’s series ‘Adolescence’ as the potential shape of television in the future.

The actor from Gavin and Stacey, aged 46, who has returned to Britain, confessed that while residing in Los Angeles, he longed for the BBC’s programming.

On that particular evening, RTS bestowed upon James and his fellow actress Ruth Jones, aged 55, their esteemed Judge’s Award, a mark of honor for their work as creators and scriptwriters of the cherished BBC sitcom. The duo received this prestigious award in appreciation of their roles.

In his acceptance speech, James extended a hand to aspiring television writers, acknowledging that it may appear hard to believe nowadays that novice writers could ever receive such extensive creative control.

As someone who’s spent numerous years on American television, let me express my deep-seated conviction: Having lived abroad for such an extended period, I can’t help but emphasize the importance of safeguarding these esteemed institutions. Yet, it seems that the hurdles we encounter now may not be calls to withdraw, but rather invitations to act in defiance of them instead.

In my opinion, as a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t help but bring up the phenomenal impact of the Netflix series “Adolescence” since its debut. This captivating show has garnered an impressive 66.3 million views to date, making it a must-watch for many like us who appreciate quality entertainment.

The series holds both viewers and critics spellbound, as each installment was shot in a single, uninterrupted sequence. Already, it’s generating whispers of potential BAFTA award nods.
