James Corden has decided to sell his rundown house in Oxfordshire, abandoning plans to renovate it into a luxurious country home. He’s owned the property for over six years, but the sale price hasn’t been revealed.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what he did! Back in 2020, he spent a whopping £8 million on this incredible place called Templecombe House, just outside Henley-On-Thames. It’s this amazing art deco building, totally unique! But get this – he didn’t want to live in it. He actually planned to tear the whole thing down and build a huge, six-bedroom mansion for his family! Can you even imagine? It’s just…so him, always thinking big and wanting the best for his loved ones. I’ve been following this story since day one!
Although James Corden received permission to build a large, horseshoe-shaped house in 2023, the same year he moved back to England from the US, the property has stayed vacant and become a frequent target for vandals.
I’ve always been curious about where he lives, and it turns out he, his wife Julia, and their three kids actually live in northwest London! From what I understand, they’ve made the English capital their main home, with a beautiful property worth around £11.5 million.
According to a source, James and his family have sold their house. He recently finished a successful run on Broadway in New York and is now making plans to come back home.
‘James and his family are settled in the UK. London is their family home.’

The source described the location as extremely messy, covered in trash, and showing clear signs of vandalism. They said it will require significant effort to clean up and restore it.
James Corden received permission to start work on the property – which includes an ancient stone circle – about three years after he bought it.
The British comedian and actor intended to tear down the existing building and build a large, six-bedroom house with a pool and spa in its place.
The landscaping plan was designed to protect the 45 large stones on the site, and Corden was also responsible for ensuring the safety of local animals.
The stone structures known as the Mont de la Ville dolmens were originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands. They were transported to the Park Place estate in 1788 by its previous owner.
Despite finishing a successful 17-week run in the Broadway play Art with Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale, James Corden has returned to the UK, leaving his property there abandoned and in disrepair.
As someone who’s spent years building a community around a local pub – I’ve been the landlady of The Bull in Wargrave since 1980 – I was really struck by the thought of James Corden letting the place sit empty. Honestly, it feels like a real disservice to the history and spirit of the pub – almost disrespectful, if you ask me!
She expressed her frustration to the Daily Mail, saying the owner should either live in the property or sell it to a family who would. She believes it’s wrong to purchase such a valuable place and then leave it empty, calling it unfair and shameful.

At 72, I’ve seen a lot of changes. It feels like everything revolves around money and personal gain these days. We’re lucky to have a strong community where I live, but it’s sad to see so many local businesses close, likely because people aren’t connecting with each other as much anymore.
One resident said: ‘People like James Corden think they can do what they want.
We want people who will live in these homes and become part of the local community, not just invest and then leave. We need stability and long-term commitment.
He made a big deal about getting his way with the plans and is now dramatically announcing his departure, leaving everyone wondering what’s happening.
‘That would be a lovely house and surroundings for someone local.’
Sue Harris, a local shop worker in Henley since 1997, said it would be a pity if the celebrity let the house fall into disrepair.
She worried it would be a waste if the property remained unoccupied, explaining there’s high demand for places to live here. She mentioned even Liam Gallagher had visited with his children, and he was very pleasant. You really never know who might show up, she added.
