James Bond Sequel Gets Title and Release Date Ahead of Reboot

Although it’s still uncertain what’s next for James Bond in theaters, details have emerged about the next installment in the series. This news comes before James Bond 26 and should keep fans excited while they wait for the planned reboot.

Charlie Higson, the author of the Young Bond series, has been chosen by Ian Fleming Publications to write a new James Bond novel for adults. This will be a direct sequel to the existing Bond stories. The book, titled King Zero, will be published by Penguin in September 2026, and you can pre-order it now.

James Bond Returns in King Zero

James Bond has battled iconic villains like Le Chiffre, Dr. No, and Goldfinger. Now, a new threat is emerging, and even the world’s most famous spy is unprepared for what’s about to happen.

The story begins with the death of a spy in the Saudi desert. Someone within their ranks must have been responsible, as only an insider could have known enough to carry out the murder. Even James Bond is surprised by the secret that this person died protecting.

While James Bond pursues his lead around the world, he’s unaware that a dangerous plan is already in motion. A powerful and mysterious figure is secretly pulling the strings, and his influence is far greater than Bond suspects.

Prepare for a villain unlike any before. Prepare for KING ZERO.”

At the launch of his book, Higson shared his excitement with the audience, including representatives from MI6. He noted that getting people enthusiastic about books is challenging, so the publisher’s significant effort for this launch meant a lot to him. After more than 20 years writing James Bond stories, he’s thrilled to finally release his first full-length Bond novel and feels privileged to be a part of the James Bond universe. He described the moment as truly special.

Who Will Be the Next On-Screen James Bond?

There’s been some recent news about the next James Bond film, but it’s still unclear who will be cast as 007. Reports indicated that the director of Dune was being considered, and Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, is writing the screenplay. While actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jacob Elordi have been mentioned as potential candidates, no official casting decisions have been announced yet.

Over the years, 25 James Bond films have been released. The latest, No Time to Die, marked Daniel Craig’s fifth and final appearance as the iconic spy. Other actors who have played Bond include Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan.

King Zero will be released on Sept. 24, 2026, while a release date has for James Bond 26.
