James Bond’s new bosses have shared an update about the “fresh” new movie they’ve got planned.
Previously, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli had been in charge of the ongoing spy series, but they have now handed over creative control to Amazon MGM Studios. More recently, Amy Pascal and David Heyman have been appointed to oversee the production of the series.
And it looks like the duo aren’t wasting any time getting to work on new entries in the franchise.
At CinemaCon, Amazon MGM’s leaders for Film, Streaming, and Theatrical, Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll, provided some insight on the latest developments regarding the Bond franchise.
According to Valenti as reported by Deadline, they are dedicated to preserving the esteemed heritage of this renowned character, all while crafting an exciting, innovative continuation for global viewers, in partnership with Amy and David.
As a gamer, I’d like to express my gratitude to Amy and David who, though currently setting up shop in London and unable to join us tonight, have promised an extraordinary collaboration ahead. So here’s a big thank you from me, and I know we all eagerly await the fantastic journey their partnership will take us on!
One individual who seems unconcerned about the future of the Bond franchise is Helen Mirren, presently working with Pierce Brosnan on the streaming show “MobLand.” She has recently expressed criticism towards the series.
She expressed that she never considered herself a strong advocate for the Bond character, in an interview with The Standard. In truth, Pierce Brosnan is her favorite actor, one she holds in high esteem. Similarly, Daniel Craig, whom she’s had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know a bit, is also someone she admires greatly. Once again, he comes across as a kind and gracious individual.
I’ve never been a fan of the entire James Bond series. To be honest, it’s just not my cup of tea. I’ve never found myself drawn to James Bond as a character, and I’ve always had issues with how women are portrayed within the series.
“The whole concept of James Bond is drenched and born out of profound sexism,” she added.
