James Bond actor Timothy Dalton looked suave in the role that made him an icon and sex symbol, see him now

Timothy Dalton first gained attention as a heartthrob in the 1970s with his role in “Wuthering Heights,” and later became a global star when he played James Bond in the 1980s.

The renowned 80-year-old British actor was recently spotted out and about sporting a surprisingly different appearance.

Dalton looked as dashing as ever while out in Los Angeles while showing off his brand new mustache.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired how certain actors use their appearance to define their on-screen persona. This particular actor was known for his classic, clean-shaven look – really showcasing those strong features! It’s fantastic to see him, just after turning 80, embracing a new style and taking a bold step with his image. It proves it’s never too late to experiment and have fun with your look!

Timothy Dalton was the fourth actor to play James Bond, appearing as the iconic 007 in two films: The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence To Kill (1989).

Timothy Dalton took over the role of James Bond after Roger Moore, who played the character in seven films between 1973 and 1985. Dalton then passed the role on to Pierce Brosnan, who starred in four Bond movies from 1995 to 2002.

Timothy Dalton is one of just seven actors who have played James Bond in official films. These actors include Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. David Niven also played Bond in a separate, unofficial film not produced by Eon Productions.

Timothy Dalton received criticism for his take on James Bond because he was considered a stark contrast to Roger Moore. Viewers found Dalton’s Bond too serious and intense compared to Moore’s more playful and flamboyant portrayal.

Moore later praised Dalton’s performance as he said: ‘I thought Timothy’s Bond was excellent.’

Recently, people have started to appreciate Sean Connery’s portrayal of James Bond more, recognizing how closely it followed the original character and storylines from Ian Fleming’s novels.

Before becoming famous as James Bond, the actor first gained recognition for his role in the 1970 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, alongside Anna Calder-Marshall. This classic novel by Emily Brontë was recently updated with a new film starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

Dalton appeared in many movies, such as The Rocketeer (1991), Hot Fuzz (2007), and he voiced the character Mr. Pricklepants in Toy Story 3 (2010).

He’s appeared in 75 different film and television projects, most recently starring in nine episodes of the Yellowstone prequel, 1923, with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

However, it is still the role of Bond which is synonymous with Dalton’s name.

Honestly, when I heard he called the Amazon deal ‘sad,’ my heart just ached with him! It felt so right, you know? And thank goodness he stood firm on the next Bond being British! It has to be! It’s just… essential. I mean, James Bond is British, and it would ruin everything if they didn’t get that right. I was so relieved he said it out loud – someone needed to!

In March 2025, Dalton expressed worry about the deal where Bond’s producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, were giving up creative control to Amazon, the streaming service created by Jeff Bezos.

These two individuals are the children of Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, the man who started the James Bond film series back in 1962.

Although they’ll continue to share ownership, fans and actors who’ve previously played James Bond are worried about what the future holds for the iconic 007 franchise.

Despite the release of the latest James Bond movie, No Time To Die, in 2021, a new actor to play 007 hasn’t been chosen yet.

When asked about the concerns being raised, Dalton told The Telegraph he was saddened by them, describing Barbara as one of the best and most fantastic women he knew.

Everyone always has strong feelings about Bond films. While that can sometimes diminish the experience, it can actually make things better if you focus on the opinions of people who are knowledgeable and have a clear vision. Barbara Broccoli had that ability to curate and refine the process.

I’m unsure what Amazon’s plans are for this, or how they’ll work with the Broccolis.

This movie series is truly excellent. Many of us grew up watching it, and it’s become a part of our collective memories, so it’s disappointing to see it potentially compromised.

When asked if the next James Bond should be British, Timothy Dalton stated he definitely agreed.

This film is a rare and delightful British story, featuring a British lead character, and it’s something we can truly call our own.

Absolutely. That’s where it all began, and that’s where the stories come from. I’m certain of it.

Despite his reservations, he was hopeful about the future of the James Bond series now that Amazon is in charge.

Regarding the future of James Bond, Dalton expressed confidence, stating that everyone involved is dedicated to ensuring its success. He believes Amazon has the resources and ability to achieve that goal.

As of March 2026, the actors considered potential replacements for Daniel Craig as James Bond are Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, Henry Cavill, and James Nelson-Joyce.

Tom Hardy and Idris Elba have frequently been mentioned as potential candidates for the role, but some believe they may now be past the age considered suitable.
