Jake Gyllenhaal joins co-star Ashley Walters on the set of upcoming supernatural romantic thriller Remain as filming begins in Rhode Island

On Tuesday, filming for the upcoming supernatural romantic thriller titled “Remain” started in Bristol, Rhode Island, with Jake Gyllenhaal spotted on the movie set.

At an outdoor concert setting, the 44-year-old actor teamed up with his fellow performer Ashley Walters, who is also 43 years old, to film their shared scenes together.

Jake takes on the role of main character Tate Donovan, who relocates to Cape Cod seeking a new beginning. There, he encounters Wren, portrayed by Phoebe Dynevor.

He dressed smartly in a cream shirt which was teamed with jeans and tan leather boots. 

At the same time, Ashley sported a chic appearance in a khaki vest jacket and coordinating cargo pants, completing the look with an Eagles jersey from Philadelphia.

The film from M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks is set for release October 23 2026. 

The novel, which follows the same story, by Sparks will be released this year on October 7. 

Ashley was recently nominated for his initial Emmy award in the category of Best Supporting Actor, for his portrayal of DI Luke Bascombe in the popular Netflix show, Adolescence.

Last month, I was absolutely thrilled when the Emmy nominations rolled out and this incredible four-part series swept the competition, racking up an impressive 13 nominations! It’s my all-time favorite show, and I can hardly wait to see if it takes home the gold in September.

Additionally, Ashley has been recognized in the category for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series or Movie, sharing this nomination with his fellow actor, Owen Cooper.

If he wins, the 15-year-old student from Warrington school will become the youngest male victor in the 76-year span of the TV Oscars’ history.

About his nomination, Ashley expressed his delight: “This is truly an honor. This nomination signifies more than just acknowledgment; it’s a poignant reminder of my journey and progress.

Additionally, the show has been nominated in the category of Best Limited Series or Anthology Series, sharing this recognition with titles such as Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and The Penguin.

In the series, it became evident that teenager Jamie Miller’s perspective towards girls was significantly influenced by online content he was exposed to. Additionally, it highlighted the extensive use of social media among students during school hours.
