Jade Thirlwall Slams Simon Cowell in New Single, Reveals Lonely Life in Little Mix

Jade Thirlwall admitted to subtly criticizing her ex-music manager, Simon Cowell, through the lyrics of her songs.

As a devoted fan, I embarked on my solo journey back in 2024 with the release of “Angel of My Dreams,” a track I had the pleasure to call my own. Subsequently, I graced the music scene with another enchanting piece titled “Fantasy.

With her first single, she expressed lyrics about “giving up her spirit to a madman,” and faced questions if this was an allusion to the previous manager at the Syco record label.

In an interview for The Louis Theroux Podcast, the speaker expressed it this way: “They claim I’ve struck gold by selling my soul to a madman. Yet, they see me as fortunate.

‘Syco happens to be the name of Simon Cowell’s company. ‘

Jade replied: ‘Coincidentally, yes. I mean, it’s written on the tin, isn’t it?’ 

In 2011, the artist reached international stardom after winning The X Factor together with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, and Perrie Edwards.

But she also explained to the documentary maker that she ended up ‘lonely’ despite her success.

She mentioned that she found herself in a very difficult emotional state, and her mother joined her on tour out of genuine worry that something unfortunate might occur if she wasn’t present.

Inquired about her feelings of loneliness, she admitted: “Indeed, one hundred percent. And it was particularly noticeable during times when we reached our peak, such as during our most significant career milestones, that’s when I would experience the deepest sense of isolation.

‘So I do understand in that respect. ‘

Jade clarified that she and her bandmates felt a particular sense of ‘expectation’ as their string of successful songs such as Love Me Like You, Black Magic, and Confetti kept climbing the charts.

In her words: “When there’s such intense scrutiny, it feels like we, as women, are simultaneously growing into our public roles while nurturing personal relationships, and we often find ourselves working tirelessly.

She added: ‘I definitely had moments where I did have very severe like depression or anxiety. 

During a particular time, I found myself in a very troubled state, and my mother felt compelled to accompany me on tour as she was deeply worried about my safety without her presence.

As a lifestyle expert, I believe that maintaining a consistent routine becomes increasingly important as one grows. It’s like, if you slip below your standard, you might feel like you’re stumbling or falling short, which seems absurd because it’s similar to thinking that a song not becoming a number one hit means you’ve failed entirely. Instead, we should view these moments as opportunities for growth and improvement, rather than as outright failures.

10 years ago, it was more common for the industry and public perception to be as such, whereas today it’s less prevalent.
