The new movie *Priscilla*, starring Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, is currently very popular on Netflix. Since its release last Friday, October 3rd, this drama set in the 1960s has quickly become one of the top three most-watched films in the UK.
Sofia Coppola wrote, directed, and produced the film *Priscilla*, which is based on Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon’s 1985 memoir, *Elvis and Me*. Presley herself was also an executive producer on the movie.
I just saw this movie about Priscilla Presley and Elvis, and it’s really something. It follows their whole 13-year relationship – how they met as teenagers, fell in love, got married, and eventually divorced. It doesn’t shy away from the good times and the really tough times they went through together, it shows everything!

Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi star as Priscilla and Elvis, showing their relationship over time. Ari Cohen, Dagmara Domińczyk, Lynne Griffin, and Dan Beirne play supporting characters in the film.
The biopic *Priscilla* has been widely praised, with *The Australian* calling it “remarkable.” It currently has an 84% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics have praised the film, with *The Atlantic* calling it Coppola’s most haunting work yet, focusing on a familiar theme: young women seeking an escape from their lives. They specifically highlighted the film’s portrayal of this search as particularly moving.

According to *The Seattle Times*, the film *Priscilla* avoids judging Elvis Presley. Instead, director Sofia Coppola focuses on creating a strong atmosphere through beautiful visuals, a dreamy soundtrack (that isn’t Elvis’s music), and captivating performances from her lead actors.
According to Vulture, the film *Priscilla* is both unsettling and captivating, and it’s particularly noteworthy when considering the rest of Sofia Coppola’s work.
After the movie *Priscilla* came out in 2023, actress Cailee Spaeny told Digital Spy she primarily wanted to create a portrayal of Priscilla Presley that felt authentic and relatable to the real woman herself.

As a lifelong Elvis fan, I felt like we were portraying American royalty, and I hoped Priscilla Presley would connect with the story after seeing the movie,” the actor said.
Honestly, more than anything, I was just worried about her. She was going through a tough time, and her well-being mattered way more than the film itself. Of course, I really hoped the movie would be great, but my biggest priority was making sure she felt supported and that everything was being handled with care.
Spaeny shared that Priscilla Presley was deeply touched by the film, telling her, “I felt like I was watching my own life unfold through you.” Spaeny’s main goal was to make Presley feel comfortable and secure while watching it.
Priscilla is currently available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
