Jacob Elordi is reported to be replacing Paul Mescal in The Dog Stars.
As reported by Variety, the actor known for Saltburn and Euphoria is slated to appear in a dystopian thriller that will be helmed by Ridley Scott for 20th Century Studios.
In the latest developments, it was initially assumed that Mescal would be cast in the film, following his collaboration with Scott on “Gladiator II”. However, due to scheduling complications, he has had to step down from the role.
In a recent panel discussion, Scott suggested that Mescal may not appear in “The Dog Stars” because of a new acting job he has landed.
At that point, he mentioned, “Paul is currently busy with The Beatles’ project, so I might need to release him from our plans.
In the backdrop of a post-pandemic future, severely diminishing humanity, the story unfolds. Elordi portrays Hig, a pilot residing in an airbase with a former marine and his pet dog. Upon receiving a cryptic radio signal hinting at surviving life beyond their confines, Hig embarks on a perilous mission.
The movie “The Dog Stars” is adapted from the book of the same title by Peter Heller. Screenwriter Mark L. Smith, known for his work on films like “Twisters” and “The Revenant”, has been involved in writing the script.
Actor Chris Elordi has wrapped up shooting for Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming Frankenstein remake, in which he portrays the main character, the monster itself.
2025 looks to keep the limelight shining on “Priscilla” actress, as Elordi returns to play athletic character Nate Jacobs in the anticipated third season of “Euphoria.” Speculations suggest that production will start before long.
Additionally, it has been verified that he will portray Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie’s Catherine in an upcoming “Wuthering Heights” film, which is being helmed by Emerald Fennell – a director with whom he previously collaborated on the project “Saltburn”.
Viewers will have a chance to watch Elordi in an upcoming five-part series titled “The Narrow Road to the Deep North“, which features the talented actor Ciarán Hinds from “Kin“.
In December, it was announced by the BBC that they secured the television rights for adapting Richard Flanagan’s novel. However, they have yet to reveal an official release date.
