As an ardent fan and admirer of the extraordinary women who graced our screens as Charlie’s Angels, I am moved to the core by Jaclyn Smith’s heartfelt tribute to Farrah Fawcett. Fifteen years have passed since we lost this iconic beauty, but her spirit, courage, and unwavering determination continue to inspire us all.

15 years post Farrah Fawcett’s passing at age 62, Jaclyn Smith has commended Farrah for her openness regarding her fight against anal cancer.

In 1976, Smith, now 78 years old, who acted alongside Fawcett on the legendary series Charlie’s Angels, expressed that Fawcatt’s courage during her treatment and her efforts to raise awareness about the disease had a significant impact.

Speaking about Fawcett, she mentioned that despite her legs being swollen five times due to cancer treatments, she remained an exceptional companion. She showed eagerness to wear my shoes, even when she wasn’t feeling up to it.

It’s uncommon for such instances to occur, but true friends, including girlfriends, tend to band together and provide support in times of need. And that is exactly what transpired in this situation. As she reached the end of her life, I found myself drawn closest to her. Her courage, resilience, and unwavering determination to effect change were qualities I deeply respected.

“I admired her the most towards the end of her life because despite facing immense hardship, she never wallowed in self-pity. Instead, she maintained a sense of humor throughout it all. This truly amazed me.

Smith, who portrayed Kelly Garrett on Charlie’s Angels throughout its entire run of five seasons, commented that Fawcett bravely revealed her innermost feelings during her three-year fight against cancer. In response to this personal struggle, she established the Farrah Fawcett Foundation in 2007, a year after receiving her diagnosis.

Fawcett was resolute about discovering a treatment, and the foundation collaborates with other entities to finance research groups investigating HPV-linked cancers.

Her battle with the disease was also filmed for the 2009 Emmy-nominated documentary Farrah’s Story.

Smith will co-chair the foundation’s annual gala on October 24, 2024 in Dallas.

Fawcett became well-known for her famous wavy hairdo and California charm, but Smith noted that she didn’t desire to simply be a model and was more of a home-loving individual.

Smith talked to People in 2019 about the last time she saw her friend of 40 years.

She was uncomfortable and kept moving around,” remarked the striking brunette. “I was massaging her feet, attempting to soothe her. It seemed to help. For nearly three hours, we chatted about our lives, our kids, our upbringing in Texas. The last moments I spent with Farrah were particularly special as we cherished our friendship.

Smith also said that Farrah was ‘relentless in her fight.’

From 1979 to 1997, Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal were romantically involved. This relationship began when O’Neal won the heart of the radiant blonde from her then-husband, Lee Majors, a well-known figure from The Six Million Dollar Man series.

Together they had a son named Redmond, 39, who had trouble with the law, even serving time in jail.

Due to Ryan’s unfaithfulness, their partnership was marked by upheaval. The relationship came to an end when Ms. Fawcett unexpectedly walked in on Ryan with actress Leslie Stefanson in his bed.

However, they reconnected in 2001 as O’Neal received a leukemia diagnosis. At this time, Ms. Fawcett took on the role of caring for him, and fortunately, O’Neal soon entered remission.

However, the situation changed in 2006 as it was Ms. Fawcett who was diagnosed with cancer. In response, Mr. O’Neal devoted his time to caring for her. They stayed by each other’s side until Ms. Fawcett passed away in 2009.

After her passing, O’Neal referred to her as his eternal sweetheart. He expressed to People, “I loved her completely. I will deeply miss her.” Later, he stated that there wasn’t a single day when he didn’t cherish her deeply.
