As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I find it disheartening to see how Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, a woman who has bravely fought and overcome her drug addiction, was made the butt of jokes at the 2024 GQ Men Of The Year Awards. It’s one thing to make light-hearted humor, but it’s another to target someone’s personal struggles, especially when they are still so raw.

At the 2024 GQ Men Of The Year Awards, jokes were made at Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s expense regarding her past struggle with drug addiction.

At a splendid event, comedians Tim McDonald and Melanie Bracewell served as the hosts, and they had no qualms about delivering playful jabs that were quite obvious to all, targeting the radio personality from KIIS FM who turned 49.

In their initial speech, Tim and Melanie critiqued Jackie’s freshly released memoir titled “The Whole Truth”.

After Tim declared, “Jackie O is present tonight,” Melanie responded, “I’m thrilled because Jackie O published a book this year.

Yet, the conversation took on a playful, somewhat mocking tone when Melanie quipped, ‘At last, here was someone who could chat non-stop about their life for five hours a day, finally prepared to tell their tale.’

The teasing continued when Tim joined in, making fun of Jackie’s recent confessions about her struggles with substance abuse and younger suitors.

He started by stating sincerely that Jackie’s book discusses her battles with addiction. However, to add a touch of humor, he followed it up by saying, ‘And let me tell you, those struggles extend as far as Prada bags and twenty-year-old gentlemen.’

With an air of audacity, they cracked their witty, raw humor, all while Jackie gracefully radiated elegance in the audience, having entered with her dear companion Pip Edwards.

On the sparkling evening, Jackie presented a stunning spectacle by flaunting her remarkable physique in a captivating, backless black dress that attracted attention everywhere.

She added a bit of height with some high heels and confidently showcased her well-toned body, adjusting her pose to capture the camera’s attention.

Jackie handled the comments regarding her struggle with addiction gracefully, maintaining a cheerful demeanor as she confidently walked forward prior to the event.

In recent weeks, Jackie publicly disclosed her long-standing battles with drug and alcohol dependency for the very first time in her autobiography titled “The Whole Truth.

In October, it was disclosed that she had quietly admitted herself to the Betty Ford Clinic in November 2022 for a 28-day treatment, informing her audience then that she was dealing with long COVID.

At the peak of her dependency, she was taking as many as 12 Stilnox sleep aids and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers each day, frequently accompanied by alcohol – a highly risky combination.

For a quarter century, Jackie maintained her professional bond with Kyle on air, but remained secretive about her struggle with addiction, keeping this personal turmoil hidden from him.

While Jackie openly shared her emotional confession on-air, an astonished Kyle expressed that he was completely unaware of his co-host’s hidden truth.

What surprises me is how strongly against drugs you are, given your more reserved nature – you’ve never been the type to attend wild parties,” he remarked.

In all honesty, Kyle admitted that he felt ashamed for not noticing any indications of Jackie’s struggle with addiction.

He confessed, “I never realized the extent of your drinking habit; I just thought you enjoyed an occasional glass of wine. Now, it’s left me feeling rather ashamed that I’ve been unaware of this all along, given our daily interactions.

‘I’m in shock, I’m in shock and feeling like a s**t friend for not realising,’ he added.

In my capacity as a lifestyle expert, I made the decision to take some time away from my radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, by seeking treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic in November 2022. This was an important step for me in maintaining a healthy life balance.

Jackie sneakily arranged a flight that took her from Australia to Los Angeles, where she discreetly admitted herself into a well-known rehab center, known for its high-profile clientele such as Lindsay Lohan and Keith Urban.

As an ardent admirer, I found myself boarding a late-night flight alongside my dearest companion, Gemma. Together, we opted for this flight to ensure seclusion and intimacy in our shared excitement.

In her autobiography, Jackie outlined her journey’s schedule and successfully concealed her addiction for over two years.

“I’m all set to depart for the airport, taking a nighttime flight. We board right before the deadline, and we’re expected to land quite late in the evening.

After retrieving our hired vehicle, we’ll be steering it towards Palm Springs. For the next two nights, we plan to stay at a cozy inn in that area, but it’s not my ultimate stopover.

Following our weekend adventure in the Sonoran desert, Gemma is returning home, but I won’t be joining her. Instead, I’ll be setting off on my own once she checks out.

Jackie discretely admitted herself to the Betty Ford Center for a 28-day duration, choosing to participate in a self-initiated 12-step program designed to help manage her substance abuse issues.

On November 14, she celebrated two years of living sober, having successfully conquered her prolonged battle with substance abuse involving drugs and alcohol.
