Jackie 'O' Henderson reveals shock way she got her hands on prescription medication during height of her addiction

As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in understanding human struggles and triumphs, I wholeheartedly commend Jackie ‘O’ Henderson for her courage to publicly share her personal battle with addiction. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that no one is immune to the grips of substance abuse, and it takes immense strength to acknowledge and address this issue.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has shared candidly about the surprising methods she resorted to in order to obtain prescription drugs during her battle with addiction.

49-year-old radio icon revealed a shocking admission in her recently published memoir titled “The Whole Truth,” which became available for purchase on Tuesday.

Jackie admitted that she had grown dependent on prescribed medicines, a struggle marked by the energy-draining and awkward practice of visiting multiple doctors, a process she referred to as ‘doctor hopping’,

‘I recognized the situation, as I had previously been in it while I was using Endone. It requires visiting various medical centers each month, since a new patient seeking strong painkillers will raise immediate suspicions.’

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an insightful observation: Jackie chose to bypass the hurdles associated with visiting general practitioners and instead opted for a more direct approach when obtaining her medications, sourcing them from underground markets.

‘I was hit by a stroke of good luck – or incredibly bad luck – when I met someone who was able to access prescription medication for me. It was dodgy as hell, but I risked it anyway.

Not only was my issue resolved, but I’ll now have access to a more potent codeine pain reliever, specifically Panadeine Forte.

The presenter had to quit abruptly as her supplier got arrested, thereby ending her access to the source.

The phone on me started ringing. It was my supplier on the line, informing me that they’d been apprehended. As a result, my access to my medications suddenly vanished.

This was the time I’d long feared, when I would confront my addiction and try to break free from a behavior I’ve been engaging in for a prolonged period.

On their KIIS FM radio show last Thursday, the radio personality confided in her co-host Kyle Sandilands about her struggles with addiction, sharing a shocking revelation during an emotional discussion.

Jackie admitted that during the peak of her addiction, she was taking as many as 12 Stilnox sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte tablets each day, frequently accompanied by alcohol.

On The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the radio personality from KIIS FM openly disclosed that she had covertly sought treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic for substance abuse problems related to drugs and alcohol in November of last year.

Jackie confessed that she had been warned against stopping her medication use before going to the clinic, which implies she was still taking the substances when she traveled to the United States.

In 2022, when Jackie temporarily left the show, Kyle Sandilands informed listeners that she was choosing to prioritize her health, having recently been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, though he appeared to be thriving on air, the well-liked radio personality was secretly grappling with an addiction that had become unmanageable off the stage.

The veteran presenter expressed her desire to openly discuss her struggle with addiction, aiming to diminish the perceived shame associated with substance dependency and make it more acceptable in society.

As a devoted supporter, I want to humbly acknowledge that there were moments in the past when I didn’t share my personal health challenges with you. Today, I stand before you, proudly announcing that within a few weeks, I will be celebrating two years of sobriety – a milestone I am honored to have reached.
