Even my long-standing co-host, Kyle Sandilands, was taken aback by this revelation.

This week, during an appearance on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 50-year-old host confessed something surprising: once her annual contract worth $10 million expires, she plans to divide her time by residing half the year in Italy.

In the closing months of 2023, Kyle and Jackie sealed an exceptional contract worth $200 million with ARN, ensuring their continued partnership for a full decade.

In January, they discussed publicly the provisions in their contracts regarding the fate of the show should either of them pass away.

‘I’ve got a whole page in there about what happens if you die,’ Jackie told Kyle. 

Indeed, I have it too,” she admitted. “In fact, I’ve owned it for quite some time now. It seems like you added it to yours this year.

‘Wait. Why was I in yours? Was I more likely to die?’ Jackie exclaimed. 

Kyle explained to her that the “death clause” was an old provision from legal agreements, but under the new terms, Jackie had an opportunity to insert personal conditions of her own.

In the course of handling a fresh agreement, I received a call from my legal team who mentioned that Jackie desired an ‘end-of-life’ provision, as I put it.

‘I said, “well, she should get that.” I’ve had that for years.’

In Jackie’s agreement, it was stipulated that the host retained the right to depart from the show under specific circumstances – should Kyle unfortunately pass away.

In the early days of their careers at KIIS FM, neither co-host achieved significant success, but their big break came unexpectedly when they were teamed up to host Austereo’s national Hot30 Countdown in 2000.

Ever since that time, this broadcasting juggernaut has been thriving and amassing numerous industry accolades. Additionally, it maintains high audience ratings throughout Sydney.
