Jackie Apostel is cheering on her boyfriend, Cruz Beckham, following the release of his new song on Friday.
Cruz Beckham, the youngest of the Beckham brothers, launched his music career on Friday by releasing his debut singles, “Optics” and “Lick The Toad,” along with his first music video.
Jackie, age 30, shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot to show her support. The video also included a fun surprise appearance from her and her partner’s dog.
She captioned the post: ‘a day in the country, a craigslist couch and a couple friends
‘watch to the end for the surprise cutie in the drivers seat. optics video out now!’
Jackie, a songwriter herself, has been a strong supporter of Cruz as he starts his music career. They’ve both been playfully hinting at his new project using ‘toad’-related clues.
In mid-September, Jackie shared a photo from rehearsals and wrote, “It’s about time, don’t you think?” Cruz simply replied, “I agree.”
Cruz surprised fans on Friday by releasing his new single, “Optics.” The song’s lyrics explore themes of drugs and sex, and come as he’s dating Jackie, who is ten years older and collaborated with him on the album, including designing the cover art.
He sings about taking many self-portraits in bed, while he’s experiencing a hallucinatory trip, and enjoying sensual pleasures.
The song’s chorus goes, ‘Always stay stylish, never come down, no dramatic falls—but I’m curious what that looks like, and I want to know how it feels.’
His new single, ‘Lick The Toad,’ takes a different approach than his previous work, focusing on themes of nature instead of more suggestive content.
In the chorus, he repeatedly sings about wanting to experience and enjoy the beauty of nature, using playful and informal language.
Earlier this week, Cruz shared a look at the process of designing the cover art for his new single, which features Jackie.
Cruz was filmed lifting concrete slabs in a studio setting. The slabs were arranged on a white backdrop for his photoshoot.
A clear plastic sheet was laid over the slabs, and bright orange bags were used to keep it from moving.
Jackie was seen lying on a couch as Cruz readied himself for the shoot.
The songwriter showed off her toned stomach in a black crop top and pants while playfully posing for a photo.
The magazine cover shows Cruz as a dark shape, highlighted by a green light behind him, making his form clearly visible.
Cruz announced on Instagram that his new double single, ‘Optics’ and ‘Lick the Toad,’ will be released this Friday, October 24th.
