Jack P. Shepherd has revealed the real reason behind his signing to Celebrity Big Brother.

As a die-hard Coronation Street fan, I couldn’t help but feel my heart race when I saw the 37-year-old star, famous for his role as David Platt on the beloved soap, step into the iconic house on Monday. So far, it seems he’s had a tough time striking up friendly connections with his fellow contestants.

However, before his appearance on ITV, David confessed to The Sun’s TV Magazine that he was apprehensive about being terminated or rejected.

Additionally, he disclosed that ex-housemate and fellow soap actor Colsen Smith had a significant impact on his choice to participate in the program.

He shared that since he has a connection within the circle, he felt more comfortable appearing on the program, as he wished to avoid any potential backlash or cancellation.

Jack shared with the media, “It’s important for me to have connections within the organization to avoid any potential cancellations.

‘That’s everyone’s fundamental concern, isn’t it? That’s the biggest one.

‘What happens if I go in there and I’ve no career [after] or people hate me?”

Apart from that, Jack additionally expressed his concern about possibly facing jeers or interruptions, and openly confessed that his ultimate aim was to serve as the individual within the venue who would bring laughter to all present.

Although the television personality entered the house with noble plans, it seems he’s faced challenges in gaining favor among his fellow housemates, as he received the highest number of nominations during the initial round of nominations on the show.

Fans have been wondering if they might have overlooked something, as Jack seemed hardly visible on the program.

In the latest episode on Thursday, he was taken aback by an unexpected flurry of unusual nominations, ranging from being strategic to using excessive cologne.

In the house, it was Michael Fabricant, a previous Conservative politician who played Corrie and is now 74 years old, who got the most nominations from his fellow housemates.

Jack was given a total of eight nominations by Angellica Bell, Chesney Hawkes, Danny Beard, Donna Preston, Ella Rae Wise, JoJo Siwa, Patsy Palmer, and Trisha Goddard.

In an effort to explain, Angellica shared with Big Brother that she refers to him as “the observer” due to his tendency to watch events unfold rather than actively participate. This behavior sometimes leaves her feeling uncomfortable, which in turn makes her feel somewhat sad.

Simultaneously, some viewers found Donna’s explanation surprising when she mentioned that his strong aftershave scent was the issue.

She jokingly commented, “I believe he applies a bit too much aftershave, which irritates the back of my throat and even makes me retch occasionally. Jack uses no less than three different sprays daily, and it’s as if he’s concocting a fragrance cocktail.

Chesney admitted that he sometimes wonders if they are friends, since Jack tends to keep his distance.

The singer pondered: ‘I tend to be expressive, affectionate, it appears everyone else in the household shares this trait as well.’

In other settings, I’ve observed that the Corrie actor seems to enjoy subtly challenging my thoughts. To put it another way, I believe his humor is deliberately crafted to create a slight stir among those around him.

This encounter is quite mentally challenging, and he seems to derive pleasure from adding an extra layer of confusion during the process. However, I don’t find such humor appealing.

Additionally, Trisha described him as having a rather dark sense of humor that she found amusing, but also likened him to a snake due to his deceitful nature, sharing with Big Brother.

For a few days, he tended to remain curled up, speaking seldom with only brief words or phrases. Frequently, he would choose to stay apart from the group. However, without warning, he would appear and emit a soft hissing sound.

JoJo and Ella subtly suggested their belief that the soap actor might be acting solely for personal gain, and possibly has a premeditated strategy.

JoJo stated: ‘From what I’ve seen of Jack in this home, Jack simply does as Jack pleases. If you’re searching for your water bottle, don’t expect him to help you locate it. In the kitchen while you’re cooking, he might pop in to brew himself a cup of tea and then carry on with his day.’

He rarely inquires about how someone is doing or checks if they’re okay, particularly following the turmoil of yesterday. It seems like this moment calls for thoughtfulness, empathy, and compassion towards others instead.

‘I have felt that in the group a lot but I have felt that missing from Jack.’

Ella jokingly commented, “He seems to have quite an extensive strategy. He’s very aware of our dynamics. It feels like he keeps a lot hidden about his true self. I get the sense that he’s playing a game and being quite strategic.

On the other hand, some fans might not know much about the actor’s personal life outside of his acting career, as he is soon to wed his stunning fiancée, Hanni Treweek, shortly after his time in the famous house.

In June 2024, during a serene safari vacation in the magnificent Serengeti, Jack proposed to his devoted partner, Hanni, and they became engaged.

In that moment, they took adoring photos while dressed in their safari outfits, sharing the joyous news with the world through their social media platforms.

Ever since I stumbled upon them on the soap set back in 2017, when Hanni was stationed in the press office, I’ve been hooked on their love story. Jack and Hanni, they’ve been an item ever since!

She later became a storyliner on the ITV show, before quitting to work as a fashion influencer.

Prior to his romance with Hanni, Jack was previously engaged to Lauren Shippey, whom he had been in a relationship with since he was fourteen years old. Together, they have two children named Nyla and Reuben.

Yet, in 2010, their relationship encountered difficulties when the actor from Coronation Street became involved in an affair, which resulted in a pregnancy for the other party.

Lauren expelled the actor from their home, as he had been unfaithful to her and later fathered a child named Greyson from a one-night stand with Sammy Milewski.

The actor was forced out of the house by Lauren when she discovered his infidelity and subsequent paternity of a child, Greyson, conceived during a tryst with sales executive, Sammy Milewski.

In terms of my understanding, I don’t share a traditional parent-child bond with Greyson beyond providing financial support, as reported by The Sun.

Following the controversy, Jack and Lauren reconciled. In fact, he went ahead to propose using a £3,000 ring, having previously made a public apology.
