Actor Jack Lowden, nominated for Emmys and BAFTAs, has been chosen to play the lead role in the forthcoming screen adaptation of Philip Kerr’s top-selling crime books. At this point, Apple TV+ hasn’t announced a release date.

Recently, Lowden has been keeping himself occupied with multiple ventures. Alongside “Slow Horses” and the thrilling movie titled “Tornado”, he is also set to appear in the eagerly awaited Netflix adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel, “Pride and Prejudice“.

As I log into my favorite role-playing game, I find myself slipping into the shoes of none other than Fitzwilliam Darcy, or better known as Mr. Darcy – a complex, romantic character that’s hard to resist. This time around, it seems I’ll be capturing Elizabeth Bennet’s attention, and I can’t wait to see how our story unfolds!

In the upcoming six-part series, “The Crown,” actress Emma Corrin takes on the role of Elizabeth, while Olivia Colman assumes the part of the Bennet family’s matriarch, Mrs. Bennet.

In a light-hearted jest, Lowden humorously suggested that he might be pioneering the role of Darcy since he could become the first redheaded Darcy, following in the footsteps of Colin Firth and Matthew MacFadyen who played this character before him.

“I quite like the idea of being a ginger Darcy,” he told the BBC.

“I think that is really breaking down barriers – one of the great last barriers to be broken down.”

In addition to acting, the performer is currently sharing the stage with Martin Freeman in “The Fifth Step” at the West End. This play moved to London following a highly acclaimed run in Scotland, during which our actor appeared opposite his fellow “Slow Horses” cast member, Sean Gilder.

The stage production running at London’s Soho Place until the 26th of July has just announced a cinema debut on the 27th of November.

Berlin Noir will stream on AppleTV+.

Slow Horses season 5 premieres on the same platform on 24 September.
