It’s been verified that actor Jack Black will be reprising his role in the forthcoming “Jumanji” film, slated for release in 2026.
In the upcoming fourth film of the action series, the performer and humorist is set to return to his character, a role he originally played in the 1995 classic, which was followed by two subsequent films featuring Robin Williams.
On “Today” this week, Black discussed the prospect of a Minecraft movie. He also hinted at possible sequels for his favorite films, mentioning that another installment of the Jumanji series is underway, with him set to reprise his role.
“It’s in the works,” he said, adding that there’s a “high” probability that the movie will be made.
“Spoiler alert, I’m in it!” he then said.
In the upcoming movie, it is anticipated that Black will join forces with fellow actors Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, and Kevin Hart. This reunion brings back the group from the initial Jumanji reboot, which premiered in 2017, as well as its sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, released in 2019.
As a gaming enthusiast, I was grilled about potential follow-ups to the music comedy “School of Rock,” penned and played by the talented Mike White from “The White Lotus” series, as well as the festive romantic comedy “The Holiday.
It was unfortunately revealed that the actor expressed interest in reprising his role as music teacher Dewey Finn and taking up the part of Kate Winslet’s love interest, music composer Miles Dumont.
About School of Rock specifically, Black said a follow-up is “not likely”.
“Never say never, but it’s not in the works,” he said.
“I heard there may be a School of Rap though, I’d like to cameo if that’s happening,” he added.
Although it’s highly unlikely, Black expressed his hope that ‘The Holiday 2’ is being developed and urged co-star Winslet to bring the project to life.
“Oh Kate, come on! Let’s do it again!” he said.
Jumanji 4 is scheduled to be released on December 11, 2026.
