IVF Miracle

Laura Adlington is pregnant!

36-year-old Great British Baking Show champion reveals she’s having a baby with her husband Matt, following nine years of struggles with infertility and medical advice to shed approximately 14 stone in order to conceive.

On Sunday, Laura announced her happy news on Instagram following a year-long decision to explore In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Previously, the doctor had advised her that her sole opportunity for conceiving involved undergoing IVF, and that she needed to shed some pounds first in order to become eligible. However, the Size 26 body positivity model refused to let her weight determine her fertility journey and ultimately achieved pregnancy naturally.

Excitedly announcing the joyous news after nine long years, she penned down: ‘Come October, we’re filled with elation and a touch of astonishment as we eagerly await the arrival of our tiny IVF blessing ✨’

‘I understand that messages such as this might bring added distress during times of anticipation or sorrow. Therefore, don’t hesitate to silence notifications or stop following if it helps you, and remember that I am sending you lots of love.’

It’s taken quite a lengthy, and I must admit, sometimes solitary journey to reach this point, an experience that many of you may relate to if you’ve been following my work over time or tuned into my podcast.

Initially, we had resigned ourselves to the possibility that having kids may not be within our reach. However, around a year and a half back, we silently resolved to explore In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

To avoid adding extra stress, we chose not to disclose our situation publicly, either online or among family members; instead, we opted to keep it private.

After experiencing two unproductive attempts and a postponed one, it wasn’t until a few months back that we learned about my happy news – I was expecting!

In the upcoming period, I’ll delve deeper into our path that led us here, but for the moment, we’re simply thrilled to announce our latest developments to everyone. Frankly, it’s hard to fathom how fortunate we feel right now.
