Following a May court decision regarding his publicly-funded security in the UK, Prince Harry quickly gave an interview with the BBC. In it, he expressed being deeply upset and stated he doesn’t foresee returning to the UK with his family for the time being.
So, I wasn’t the only one surprised to find out his wife, Meghan, was in Paris last weekend, right?
Paris was the site of the tragic car crash that took the life of Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. The crash happened after she no longer used the official police security provided to her.
You’d probably assume Paris was the last place the duke would send his wife, especially since he wasn’t there with her.
Instead of her husband, Meghan Markle brought her close friend, Markus Anderson, to Paris Fashion Week. He’s a high-ranking executive at Soho House, a private members’ club, and is known to be very close to the Duchess of Sussex—some have even jokingly called him her ‘second husband’.
Because Prince Harry was deeply worried about his family’s safety – so much so that he considered suing the British government, even though it would have been costly and difficult – people are curious about the true purpose of Meghan Markle’s recent trip to Europe, her first since attending the Invictus Games in Germany over two years ago.
Now, I can provide some answers.
Meghan’s trip to France was connected to a behind-the-scenes plan – supported by several high-ranking politicians and royal insiders – that I’ve discussed in recent articles. I’ve even learned what this plan was called.

Called ‘Project Thaw,’ this initiative seeks to improve the Duke and Duchess’s strained relationships with both the Royal Family and the public.
What’s more exciting than seeing photos of her being kissed by leading figures in European fashion, including the iconic Anna Wintour from Vogue?
‘This trip is all part of the “thaw” process,’ a friend of the California-based couple tells me.
Things had once been very different of course.
Like many people, Prince Harry was captivated by Meghan Markle, who first gained popularity as a charming paralegal on the TV show Suits. When she moved to London and got engaged in 2017, the British public quickly welcomed and embraced her too.
The following spring, on a beautiful, sunny day, thousands of people gathered at Windsor to celebrate the royal couple’s wedding, and many more watched the event on television.
It just broke my heart to see things change with Harry and the family, honestly. It wasn’t long before things started to feel…distant. And sadly, it felt like the public started to turn too, which was just awful to watch. I mean, they were *so* loved at first, and then… it just wasn’t the same.
After the couple quit royal duties and moved to North America in 2020, attitudes hardened further.

After Harry and Meghan publicly shared their criticisms of the Royal Family – in interviews with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix documentary, and Harry’s revealing memoir, Spare – their relationship with Britain became irreparably damaged.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m really encouraged by ‘Project Thaw’! It’s all about improving relations, and it seems to be gaining momentum after the Duke’s recent trip to Britain. His charity work was well-received, but I think the real turning point was being invited for tea with King Charles at Clarence House – those personal connections can truly make a difference, and it signals a willingness to move forward.
It was the first face-to-face meeting between father and son in 19 months.
Harry coincidentally arrived in Kyiv on the same train as the new Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, following a previous engagement. Both were traveling to the Ukrainian capital, which has been heavily impacted by the war.
I know Ms. Cooper is one of those in positions of power who respect the duke and would like to see him more involved in public events.
During a visit to Kyiv, Harry shared with The Guardian newspaper – which is critical of the monarchy – that he wants to bring his family, including his wife Meghan and their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, back to the UK.
‘This week has definitely brought that closer,’ he claimed.
I can share that the couple’s next public appearance will be their first joint trip to Britain since September 2022, when they attended a charity event and then the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. Their team prefers to call this a natural step in their ongoing plans.
A friend of Meghan’s says she plans to come back to the UK before the end of the year, and jokingly suggests she’ll be apologizing for past actions.
It’s still unclear if a sincere apology will be enough to satisfy the Royal Family and the public.
I personally won’t be eating any cake until she apologizes to senior members of the royal family, like the Prince and Princess of Wales, for the significant pain she and her husband have inflicted.
