Emily Atack alleges that she has experienced sexual assault during the course of her work on various television programs and films throughout her career.
As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but be moved by the bravery of this remarkable actress, aged 35, who rose to fame on The Inbetweeners back in 2008. Recently, she bravely disclosed that she’s been a victim of sexual misconduct within her professional sphere. Now, with a heart full of determination, she’s embarking on an inspiring journey to delve deeper into this issue through the creation of a powerful documentary.
On the set of her newest series Rivals, where numerous intimate scenes are featured, Emily appreciates the impact of having ‘intimacy coordinators’. These professionals help facilitate a positive change in conduct, ensuring actors find it easier and more comfortable to perform.
She shared with Radio Times that intimacy coordinators serve as a source of support for actors who may feel uneasy, regardless of gender. Some individuals have expressed skepticism or even dismissal towards these roles, often commenting, “I don’t need one.” There can be a defensive attitude associated with this perspective.
Throughout my professional career, I have experienced sexual harassment, which occurred both on the job site and during wrap parties.
As a devoted advocate, I’ve noticed a significant change since the rise of the #MeToo movement. It demonstrates a growing receptiveness among us all, implying a necessary transformation in our on-set conduct.

She explained how filming Netflix hit Rivals has been a completely different experience.
She expressed her pride for the Rivals group, stating that they have provided a sense of safety and respect that she has not always felt in her own life.
‘We have to do a lot of sexual scenes and we’re very looked after. It’s a really positive thing.’
Emily mentioned that she’s planning to build upon the success of her 2023 documentary on online sexual harassment by initiating a new television series focusing on the job of intimacy coordinators.
18 years back, I embarked on my acting journey with modest roles in dramas like ITV’s Heartbeat, but it was my portrayal of Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners that marked a significant turning point in my career.
The sitcom ran from 2008 to 2010 on Channel 4 and is one of Britain’s best-loved comedies.
In addition, Emily has made appearances in the BBC One prequel comedy to Only Fools And Horses titled Rock & Chips (in 2010), the 2013 gangster film Get Lucky, and the 2016 remake of Dad’s Army.
The actress finished second on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018.
