ITV recently unveiled a fresh glimpse of Jodie Whittaker and Suranne Jones starring in their upcoming heist series, titled “Frauds.
Jodie Whittaker, known for her role as Doctor Who, teams up with Vigil star Stephen Graham, portraying a duo named Sam and Bert. After ten years of separation, due to Bert’s imprisonment, they reunite in Spain. When Bert is granted compassionate release, the intricate details of their shared past start to unfold once more.
Even though I’ve been keeping a low profile lately, Bert has managed to drag me into an audacious million-dollar heist. Will we manage to pull this off, or will our tumultuous camaraderie, along with Bert’s knack for deceit, ignite the downfall of our daring scheme?
Before its launch towards the end of this year, ITV has revealed the initial photographs for the upcoming drama series. These pictures display Chibnall and Skinner as they strategize an unforgettable heist in the storyline.
Working on the series “Frauds” in collaboration with Anne-Marie O’Connor and Monumental Productions over the past two years has been an exhilarating journey, as expressed by Suranne.
In a unique twist, we flipped the concept of toxic female friendships on its axis, infusing the thrilling heist genre with an emotional pulse. For a long time, I’ve wanted to collaborate with Jodie, and now that dream is becoming reality. I truly hope you enjoy our characters Bert and Sam as much as we do, with their antics being part of this compelling story.
Helen Ziegler, our Senior Drama Commissioning Editor, expressed her joy in collaborating with Suranne, Anne-Marie, and the exceptional crew at Monumental, as they bring a fresh perspective to the heist genre.
This tale revolves around an intricate, unforeseen bond between Sam and Bert, questioning if they can unite for one final mission or if their past will sabotage them. The performances of Suranne and Jodie promise to be extraordinary, making it exhilarating to anticipate how they will embody these principal roles.
Alongside Whittaker and Jones, the ensemble of the six-episode series also features Horacio Colomé, Christian Cooke, Talisa Garcia, and Lee Boardman. Notably, O’Connor is responsible for writing the scripts, while Giulia Gandini will take on directing responsibilities.
Frauds will air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX later this year.
