Andrew Lincoln’s new thriller, *Coldwater*, which premiered last night on ITV, has sparked a lot of different opinions – some people loved it, while others didn’t.
A family moves to a charming town in Scotland hoping for a fresh start, but they quickly realize their neighbors are hiding disturbing secrets.
The six-episode series features Andrew Lincoln, known for his role in *The Walking Dead*, alongside Indira Varma, Ewen Bremner, and Eve Myles, who is also currently starring in a popular new show.

Although the show featured a talented cast, reviews were mixed. While some critics enjoyed it, others strongly disliked it.
The iNews publication called “Coldwater” “simply dreadful,” questioning if the show, set in Scotland, was intentionally this bad or if there was a joke they were missing. They expressed disbelief that a series could be so consistently poor without meaning to be.
According to *The Independent*, the main issue is a repeated inability to develop interesting and believable characters. This isn’t specific to ITV, but rather a broader problem with modern television that prioritizes immediate action over character development, catering to shorter attention spans.
Reviews were mixed, but generally positive. *The Guardian* described the show as enjoyable fluff, while *Radio Times* highly praised it, saying it’s a gripping thriller that immediately draws you in and doesn’t let go.
This is the third thriller film Myles has appeared in this year, after his role in *The Guest*, which Digital Spy described as “undeniably addictive.”
