ITV’s “gripping” new crime thriller with Broadchurch star drops first trailer

ITV unveiled a fresh teaser for the upcoming suspenseful drama, “Code of Silence“, which counts among its cast members from popular series such as “Broadchurch” and “Strictly Come Dancing“.

In this rephrased version, the character Rose Ayling-Ellis, famously known from “EastEnders” and victor of “Strictly”, takes on the role of Alison Woods – a deaf individual who works in catering and uses her lip-reading abilities to secure a position with the police.

From the preview, it seems the officers have doubts about her qualifications since she hasn’t received formal training. Yet, she is eager to demonstrate her abilities.

Her role involves monitoring a criminal group, utilizing her abilities to uncover their intended strategies or schemes.

Not only is the situation inherently risky, but she quickly develops a connection with one of the gang members, which could jeopardize the mission and potentially endanger her as well.

In addition to Ayling-Ellis, the six-part series boasts a talented cast that includes Andrew Buchan from Broadchurch, Charlotte Ritchie of Ghosts, Kieron Moore from Vampire Academy, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea known for The Witcher, Joe Absolom from Doc Martin, and Andrew Scarborough, who hails from Emmerdale.

Straddling covert operations, familial strife, and personal upheaval, Alison finds herself pushed to test her boundaries – ultimately altering the trajectory of her life irrevocably.

Recently, Ayling-Ellis graced our screens on the show “Reunion,” produced by the creators of Netflix’s “Adolescence.” We found it to be a compelling drama delivered beautifully by skilled performers.

In addition, she is set to feature in the upcoming third episode of this season’s “Doctor Who” (airing on April 26). Interestingly, during the filming process, she admitted that she had never before felt so unwell in her entire life.

Code of Silence will premiere on ITV1, STV, ITV and STV Player on 18 May.
