ITV’s Grace star announces shock exit after season 4
Grace star Craig Parkinson has announced his departure from the show.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m eagerly awaiting the fourth season of my favorite crime drama, set to drop next week. However, it seems that our beloved detective, DS Norman Potting, will grace our screens for one last time as actor Parkinson has confirmed his exit from the series after this upcoming season.
As I bid farewell to my gaming community, I felt compelled to share some news with all of you: “Alright, gamers, here’s the scoop about Grace… After an incredible journey spanning a few wonderful years, I’ve decided to hang up my virtual detective badge. The next season of our adventure on ITV kicks off on September 1st, but this will be our final mission together. It’s been a pleasure gaming with you all!”
“It’s been truly enjoyable transforming this character from the pages of the books by @peterjamesuk into live action, and adapting him for a contemporary audience. There was a significant sense of duty in bringing such a cherished character to life, but thanks to creative ideas from our talented script team, minor adjustments, and support from Peter James himself, I’m thrilled that the audience has connected with him.”
In addition, Parkinson often pondered over collaborating with the “outstanding [and] skillful guest directors,” as well as the “exceptional team” throughout his five-year tenure on Grace.
“Playing Norman Potting has been a fantastic adventure, running through the streets of Brighton and even suspending bad guys from the pier! I truly hope you’ll love this season as much as I have. A big thank you to Kiaran Murray-Smith @kiaranms, Tall Story Pictures @tall_story_pictures, ITV @itv, Daniel Edwards Casting @danieledwardscasting, and Peter James @peterjamesuk for giving me this incredible opportunity.”
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have watched, encouraged, and even greeted us while we were filming in Brighton & Hove. For the upcoming season of Grace, it’s a joy for everyone, but this is my last one. I truly hope you will enjoy!
I’ve stepped into the shoes of Roy Grace, the tenacious detective, as the TV adaptation of Peter James’s novels graces our screens. The legendary John Simm brings the character to life, while Liar’s Richie Campbell and Holby City’s Rakie Ayola join me in this gripping drama series.
The series “Grace” will carry on without Craig Parkinson, as ITV decided to extend it for a fifth season back in the early part of the year.
Grace returns on Sunday, September 1 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
