Viewers are praising the latest crime drama on ITV, titled “Protection,” which features Siobhan Finneran, known for her role in “Happy Valley.
Developed by Kris Mrksa from White House Farm, this six-episode series features Finneran as Det. Insp. Liz Nyles, a character who becomes embroiled in a sensitive issue involving a security leak within her witness protection division.
In summary, “She is committed to revealing the genuine root of police corruption since her secret relationship with a coworker has put her professional standing in jeopardy. Liz will go to great lengths to restore her own reputation, that of her lover, and protect her witnesses and family members, including bending or breaking the rules if necessary.
After its debut on March 16, viewers are expressing their admiration for the series on social media platforms. Some have gone as far as drawing comparisons between it and the popular show “Line of Duty”.
On platform X, a user commented with the sentiment, “New Line of Duty feels” accompanied by #Protection. Another user shared, “Protection is reminding me of The Bay and Line of Duty, and I’m loving it!!”.

In addition to its main cast, the show “Protection” features Katherine Kelly (known for her roles in “Mr Bates vs. The Post Office” and “The Crow Girl”), Nadine Marshall (“Sherwood” and “Trigger Point”), Barry Ward (“Bad Sisters” and “Save Me”), and Chaneil Kular (“Sex Education”).
