ITV News’ Lucy Meacock, 64, marries husband Jonathan in a stunning glittering white gown and shares a touching tribute to her late father
As I read through Lucy Meacock‘s heartfelt farewell message, I couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of admiration and respect for her long and distinguished career in journalism. With over 40 years spent in television, Lucy has not only served as a beacon of professionalism but also as a pillar of support for the people of the North West.
As I gracefully made my way down the aisle adorned in a radiant white wedding dress, I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement as I united my life with my beloved partner, Jonathan.
On a whimsical Wednesday, I gleefully spilled the beans about my extraordinary day on the ‘Gram, having just taken the plunge and leaving my beloved career behind – a decision that feels like liberation!
Lucy, resplendent in a shimmering long-sleeved dress, gracefully moved along the aisle, holding a bouquet of white roses which represented her spouse’s origins in Yorkshire.
While Jonathan cut a stylish figure in a three-piece suit, he smiled broadly as he took the hand of his spouse during their wedding in Eccleston, Lancashire.
The reporter, who became acquainted with Jonathan over five years ago via mutual friends, took care to incorporate thoughtful tributes on this day, honoring the memory of her deceased father.
Lucy mentioned: ‘The groom is originally from Yorkshire and I included a special rose, which was my father’s favorite flower, during the ceremony. Later, I discreetly placed it at the spot where I had previously scattered my parents’ ashes.’
The newlyweds said ‘I do’ in front of their close friends and family to mark their special day.
Lucy additionally revealed the reasons behind her hairstyle and makeup, stating: “The secrets of a bridal beauty! It takes countless hours of dedicated effort from many talented individuals to achieve this look!
1st Person Paraphrasing:
“Everyone here is incredibly gifted and wonderful, no exceptions! I firmly believe in expressing gratitude when someone does an exceptional job. So, thank you for the remarkable transformation you’ve brought about.
Previously, I shared with Cheshire Life my heartfelt sentiment: “Never before in my life have I felt this level of joy, and it’s amazing to hear that he shares the same feelings. It’s simply fantastic! We truly enjoy each other’s company.
It feels like I’ve met my perfect match. While we were on a getaway in Northumberland, he took me off guard with a proposal, which I enthusiastically accepted right away.
After their charmingly intimate wedding at the local church, the blissful newlyweds plan to embark on a brief post-wedding getaway, followed by a more extended honeymoon at a later date.
It comes after Lucy quit ITV News in August after a whopping 36 years on screens.
Lucy announced that she would be leaving quietly, following one of the most heartbreaking weeks – a week that sadly saw the loss of three young girls in the tragic incident at Southport.
In her blog, she posted a deeply emotional video showing families placing flowers at the site of the tragic incident where the heinous crimes took place.
She has been one of the main female news presenters of ITV regional news programme, Granada Reports since 1988 and celebrated 35 years presenting the programme in November 2023 at age 64.
Last month, it became official that the well-known newscaster had chosen to leave the North West news program following over three decades of service.
Later, her employment role was validated through a Twitter post where she expressed gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve.
She penned on Twitter: ‘I will bow out quietly – it’s been the saddest of weeks. Like everyone else my thoughts are only with those little girls who lost their lives in Southport.
This week, I’ve had the pleasure of encountering some truly wonderful individuals, just as I have throughout my 36 years. It’s been an honor, and I appreciate the experience.
Announcing her departure, Lucy shared: ‘Making this decision has been incredibly challenging for me.’
However, the moment feels appropriate for a change. This position has always felt like the ideal job, with an extraordinary team of people, and situated in the most exceptional part of the world.
I’m deeply appreciative for having been offered this job all those years back. Ever since, I’ve strived to bring about something meaningful, and I sincerely hope that in the future, people look back on me with a warm sentiment.
It’s been an absolute honor and pleasure to represent the folks of this area, and the well-being of the North West will forever be close to my heart.
I’d like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has graced our program throughout the years. There have been times when they’ve been dealing with particularly difficult situations.
Expressing gratitude, she included: “I’d additionally like to express a sincere appreciation to the exceptional individuals I’ve collaborated with throughout over 40 years in television, as well as to our viewers for graciously allowing us into their homes.
We’ve truly valued your kindness during those moments. In challenging periods, such as when we mourned the loss of Tony Wilson and Tony Morris, your compassionate responses were particularly touching and heartwarming.
It’s been a pleasure working with them; their insights are still frequently referenced, and I’ve kept their contact details saved on my phone even now.
‘I have certainly been lucky to work with the best of the best.’
