This year, the Oscars will once again air live on ITV, marking the second consecutive time. Notably, there’s a groundbreaking first for the channel in 2022.
As a passionate viewer, I’m thrilled to share that for the very first time, the dazzling red carpet event will stream live concurrently on both ITV1 and ITVX! Just like the grand ceremony itself, this coverage is absolutely free for viewers in the UK to enjoy.
Jonathan Ross will once again take the helm for ITV’s live Oscars telecast, featuring distinguished guest stars and cinema authorities yet to be disclosed, in addition to Ross King conducting interviews with celebrities gracing the red carpet.
On January 23rd, the live broadcast of this year’s nominations announcement for a major event will air on ITVX at 1:10 PM, hosted by ITV News presenter Lucrezia Millarini along with Arts Editor Nina Nannar.
Additionally, you’ll find Oscars-themed content airing on ITV and ITVX platforms, including shows such as Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women, and ITV News.
In addition to hidden-camera footage, ITVX will offer a dedicated 24/7 Oscars Channel showcasing past winners and nominated films such as Gone Girl, LA Confidential, Drive, and The Help.
Last year’s Oscars ceremony reached a combined 5.2 million viewers across ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
In September 2023, ITV secured a multi-year agreement with Disney Entertainment for the exclusive rights to air the Oscars in the United Kingdom. Previously, these rights were held by Sky Cinema for twenty years before they chose not to renew them.
2021’s Oscar nominations are likely to highlight a number of prominent films such as Conclave, The Brutalist, Wicked, A Complete Unknown, and Emilia Pérez (and more).
