As an avid fan of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, I can’t help but feel disappointed and a little frustrated with this year’s casting decision. After the entertaining stints of Nigel Farage and Matt Hancock in the previous years, it seemed that some former Tory MPs were eagerly waiting for their turn to join the jungle fun.

As a devoted supporter following the political scene, I can imagine that some ex-Conservative parliament members, who unfortunately lost their positions during Labour’s victorious election, may be eagerly seeking lucrative opportunities in reality television to regain public attention and perhaps even rebuild their careers.

One show they aren’t permitted to join is “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here,” as it prohibits politicians following Nigel Farage’s participation last year.

A source close to ITV shared with the Mail: “ITV won’t feature politicians in their lineup this year. With the intensity of the General Election and the public’s saturation point, viewers seem to be tired of watching politicians on their televisions.”

I, an avid fan, can’t help but share my excitement about the past appearances of two notable political figures on the popular reality show, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! In 2022, Matt Hancock, the ex-Tory health secretary, graced our screens, followed by Nigel Farage, now the leader of Reform Party and an MP, who reportedly earned a substantial £1.5million for his three-week stint in the jungle. Unfortunately, neither politician managed to secure the top spot as decided by the public’s votes.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but be thrilled about the no-politician policy on my favorite channel’s hit show, which was the third most viewed program last year after the King’s Coronation and Happy Valley’s finale. However, this news might not bring the same level of excitement to former MPs who were hoping to keep their public presence alive through television.

Some likely contenders for this year’s Tory leadership race are predicted to emerge, among them Jacob Rees-Mogg, a former business secretary, Penny Mordaunt, a previous leader of the Commons, and Liz Truss, who holds the record for the UK’s shortest prime ministerial tenure.

An ITV source shared: “ITV prefers not to keep the same faces for over two consecutive years. It’s important to mix things up.”

During and following his time on ITV’s program, Mr. Farage, aged 60, frequently accused the broadcasting company of unfair practices.

The director of the channel, Kevin Lygo, was cautioned by him not to engage in conflict, as he claimed that his experience on the show had significantly disrupted his comfort.

Mr. Farage alleged that producers intentionally suppressed his content, decreased his screen time, and opted to broadcast him, but no other competitor, while taking a shower in his private moment at the Australian jungle camp.

Online, backers demanded accountability from ITV after the network censored the politician’s allegations, voicing their concern through calls to action.

During the last week of I’m A Celebrity, a controversy led Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to make this statement on their Instagram live show Jungle Club: “Let’s avoid inviting any politicians for a whole year.”
