ITV are reportedly eyeing up golden couple Tess Daly and Vernon Kay for This Morning.

According to a new report, a married couple is being considered to replace Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard if their contracts with the channel aren’t renewed.

Following her recent departure from Strictly Come Dancing after 21 years, 56-year-old Tess appeared with 51-year-old Vernon on a special episode of The One Show last month.

Experienced presenter Tess received a warm response from fans after the show aired on the BBC. 

Before this, they last co-hosted a major show together on the BBC singing competition Just the Two of Us, which aired from 2006 to 2007.

According to The Sun, the episode apparently caught the attention of ITV, likely because the actors had a clear and natural connection.

According to a source, it was immediately obvious they had a connection as soon as they sat together on The One Show.

I’ve always known the bosses loved Vernon, but seeing him and Josie together just clicked! Their playful back-and-forth was exactly the spark This Morning needed – it felt so natural and comfortable, like they’d been doing it forever.

Everyone’s always looking for the next popular presenting duo, and Tess and Vernon have that same natural chemistry. It’s hard to win over viewers, but they immediately connected with Tess and Vernon’s warm, down-to-earth personalities.

According to the newspaper, Cat and Ben’s current contracts are up this spring. The Daily Mail has reached out to ITV for a statement.

Tess and Vernon shared the screen for the first time in nearly 20 years last month.

The couple hosted The One Show while Alex Jones and Roman Kemp were filming the BBC competition, 500 Words, at Windsor Castle.

The show featured interviews with acclaimed actors Jessie Buckley and Maggie Gyllenhaal, as well as stars from Bridgerton, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha.

Fans were delighted to see Tess on television, with one person sharing, ‘It was so lovely to see you, Tess! I actually gasped with happiness when I saw you with your husband.’

It was wonderful having Tess on the show, and we hope she returns soon! The entire lineup was fantastic, and Tess seemed very comfortable – we’d love to have her back.

Tess and Vernon first connected while building their careers as presenters on popular national television shows.

Vernon was a presenter on Channel 4’s T4, while Tess hosted SMTV on ITV every Saturday morning.

They started dating soon after meeting on the show T4 and quickly became a famous couple on television.

Tess and Vernon both enjoyed successful careers, and even co-hosted the BBC singing show Just The Two Of Us from 2006 to 2007.

Tess previously described how quickly things moved with their partner, saying they immediately clicked and had a lot of fun together.

‘I couldn’t imagine having more fun with anyone else. It was pretty explosive, I tell you.’

She described how long-term relationships evolve, explaining that maintaining passion requires continuous effort – like consistently adding fuel to a fire to keep it burning.

You know, I’ve been reflecting on my husband lately, and it’s funny. He’s still him, that core person I fell in love with, but he’s definitely grown more mature over the years. It’s a bit of a stereotype, but sometimes I think men stay boys at heart! It’s endearing, but let’s be real, keeping up with us mentally? That’s a different story! I think we’ll always be a few steps ahead.

They got married in 2003 at St Mary’s Church in Horwich, where Vernon grew up, after dating for two years.

According to Hello!, the couple hosted their reception at the nearby Rivington Hall Barn.

Vernon was thrilled with his simple wedding, explaining that he and his partner chose to avoid a large, celebrity-filled event.

The wedding guest list included well-known personalities like Brian Dowling, famous for winning Big Brother, and June Sarpong, who hosted the T4 television show.

DJ Brandon Block was also on hand to provide entertainment at the reception party.

Tess and Vernon have two children together, Phoebe Elizabeth, 21 and Amber Isabella Kay, 16.
