It’s the end of an era! Outlander season 8 (final season) has wrapped filming
As a dedicated Outlander fan since the early days of season 1, I must say it feels like losing a dear friend who’s moving away. The news that they’ve wrapped production on season 8 is bittersweet indeed. On one hand, I’m incredibly proud of the entire cast and crew for bringing Diana Gabaldon’s magnificent world to life so faithfully, even with the unavoidable deviations from the final book. And on the other, well, it’s just heart-wrenching to know we’re nearing the end of this captivating journey.
What a significant conclusion to an incredible journey! As Sam Heughan so aptly put it, this is truly a remarkable ride. It’s hard for me to accept that we’ve reached the final chapter in the filming of Outlander. The cast and team have officially finished production on season 8. I must admit, there are tears welling up now. My emotions are all over the place right now.
On one side, they should all feel tremendously accomplished for progressing this far in television, successfully adapting Diana Gabaldon’s books (those already completed). Regardless of the divergence from the author’s original ending since she hasn’t finished writing the last novel, I have confidence that it will be exceptional and align well with the show. This series has consistently been under capable hands.
On the official Instagram page of Outlander, along with several cherished cast members like Heughan, they posted tributes marking the end of filming the final season. They also expressed their feelings as they looked back on their journey with the series. The historical drama’s page came up with a heartwarming gesture too.
Each actor and executive producers Maril Davis and Matthew B. Roberts have penned down what they plan to keep from the set now that filming for the series has ended. They might even be permitted to take a few mementos home to cherish this fantastic show! Except for Richard Rankin’s dignity, it seems best left behind – just joking! I adore how amusing he can be, even in such a setting!
I’ve been so deeply entwined with “Outlander” for such an extended period that the thought of missing new episodes feels alien to me. I initially joined as a fan when only half of the first season of “Outlander” was available, and instantly became captivated. From then on, I eagerly anticipated the second part of the first season, and ever since, it’s been an incredible ride!
Absolutely, there’s a prequel titled “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” coming up, so the universe isn’t vanishing entirely. However, it won’t be exactly the same. A new cast is taking over, and I must admit, no one can match the chemistry that Jamie and Claire share. Yet, I’m excited to see what this new story brings.
Before our eyes well up, let’s take a moment to appreciate that another part of Outlander Season 7 is due on November 22, 2024. Following that, it seems we may have a wait for Starz to air/stream Season 8, the grand finale. There will no doubt be updates and buzz about this too. Deep breaths, Sassenachs! We’ll weather this anticipation together.
