Following the events of season 7, a beloved character on Virgin River will tragically pass away. The romantic drama has returned to Netflix with a new season full of intense storylines that will challenge the residents of Virgin River. The show is known for its dramatic twists and turns, often reminiscent of classic soap operas.
Despite all the dramatic and over-the-top events, viewers keep coming back to Virgin River season after season. The show is known for throwing everything at the characters – from drug dealing and conspiracies to wildfires and heartbreaking losses – all within a single season. It often feels like no matter what could possibly go wrong, it does. Honestly, it’s a mystery why anyone would choose to live in that town, considering all the trouble they face.
I’ve been a big fan of Virgin River for a while now, and season 7 definitely took a slightly different turn – it wasn’t quite as full of drama as before, but it still had some really impactful moments. My heart broke when Mel and Jack learned their baby would need surgery right after being born, and I was shocked by Hope kicking Doc out after his deal with the hospital. But honestly, the hardest part of the ending to watch was seeing one of my favorite characters face a life-or-death situation. As much as it pains me to say it, I think it’s time to say goodbye to him.
Virgin River Repeatedly Threatens Character Deaths & Backtracks
The show Virgin River has a frustrating habit of misleading viewers into thinking a character is about to die, only to have them survive. They’ve used this trick multiple times without actually letting anyone permanently pass away. For example, Jack was shot in season 2, but he pulled through, and Hope’s car accident in season 4 turned out to be a less-fatal brain injury.
In Virgin River, Brady is stabbed and nearly dies, but miraculously recovers. Later, Everett suffers a heart attack and appears to die in season 6, but doctors manage to revive him and successfully perform open-heart surgery.
The season 6 finale of Virgin River strongly suggested Charmaine might die, and the actress who plays her, Lauren Hammersley, even playfully hinted at wanting that outcome on Instagram. Later, in season 7, Brady and Kaia found themselves in a dangerous wildfire that appeared deadly, but surprisingly, they both survived without injury.
It’s frustrating that all of the main characters on Virgin River are still alive – it feels like the writers avoid taking risks. Aside from characters who died before the show began, Lily is the only significant, non-villain character they’ve actually killed off, and even she was more of a supporting character than a lead.
Virgin River Season 7’s Ending Sets Up Brady’s Death

The show Virgin River often seems to create new problems for Brady, especially when he’s starting to do well. While he wasn’t always a great person, he’s changed and become someone viewers like. The latest episodes of season 7 show things finally looking up for him – he’s happily reunited with Brie, and he’s about to open his own bike shop.
The episode unfortunately falls apart at the end. Brady is on his motorcycle, appearing to be on his way back to Brie, and gets lost in happy memories. This distraction causes him to miss a roadblock ahead with construction workers. Instead of crashing into them, he swerves, which throws him off the motorcycle.
Brady crashes hard, tumbling and slamming into the ground with tremendous impact. The scene cuts away before showing whether he’s okay, intentionally leaving viewers wondering if he survived the motorcycle accident. The crash was so severe that, even with a helmet, it’s likely he wouldn’t have survived.
The show’s sudden cancellation is incredibly disappointing, especially since it looked like things were finally going well for the character Brady. It’s frustrating – he just can’t seem to get a positive outcome. Even the actor who plays Brady, Ben Hollingsworth, was very upset with how things ended, as he shared with TV Insider.
I was really frustrated and shocked by what happened. It just didn’t seem fair! After everything, he finally achieved something, and then it was taken away. It’s like Brady is destined to never have anything good happen to him. As an actor, it’s tough because you become invested in your character and want them to be happy, especially after working with them for seven seasons. I understand it creates suspense for the show, but it leaves you wondering what will become of him. I honestly don’t know what happens next.
Hollingsworth is spot on – it feels incredibly harsh to end the season like this. Brady deserved a better fate. He’s clearly changed and grown so much over the series. While the Brady from season one might not have earned a happy ending, this Brady absolutely did. Sadly, that’s not the conclusion we got.
Brady’s Motorcycle Accident Cannot Be Another Fake-Out
Brady has famously cheated death more times than any other character. However, the season 7 finale of Virgin River strongly suggests his time is finally near. The show’s writers need to have the courage to actually let it happen, even if it upsets some viewers.
Look, I really like Brady as a character, honestly. I just never saw the chemistry between him and Brie, and that’s okay, right? But seriously, I think Ben Hollingsworth is a fantastic actor – one of the best on the show, period. I’m not saying any of this to be mean or anything, I genuinely appreciate the character and just wanted to share my thoughts.
I’m more concerned about the problems that would arise if he did survive. The show is starting to feel repetitive – like the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Cliffhangers are necessary to keep viewers engaged, but constantly wondering if a character will die loses its impact when we expect them to always be saved.
The show presents problems without ever letting them truly impact the characters or story. If this continues, viewers will stop being invested when something bad happens because there’s no real sense of danger. To fix this, the show needs to commit to its storylines and show real consequences.
