Pokémon cards have become incredibly popular, and keeping up with demand has been a challenge for retailers. However, getting certain cards will become simpler in 2026.
According to Pokébeach, a new McDonald’s promotion is coming soon, perfectly timed with the 30th anniversary of Pokémon!
New McDonald’s Happy Meals Arrive February-March 2026
You’ll Have Some Time

It’s amazing to think the first Pokémon games came out in 1996! Originally released as Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, they eventually made their way to other countries in late 1998, and became a huge success. Now, with a tenth generation on the way, the franchise is still incredibly popular and profitable.
Get ready, Pokémon fans! McDonald’s is officially launching a Pokémon Trading Card Game promotion in the US from February to March 2026 – and it’s the first of its kind! While the exact timing may vary in other countries, the promotion will run for at least a month in the US. As you’d expect, these cards will be available with Happy Meals, meaning you’ll need to purchase food to get them. McDonald’s has occasionally offered collectible items with meals outside of the Happy Meal range in the past, so that might happen too, but right now, the promotion is confirmed to be tied to Happy Meals.
What Cards Are Confirmed So Far
Right Now It’s Based on Prior Figures

Past McDonald’s and Pokémon Trading Card Game promotions have always included a booster pack with four cards, one of which was a shiny holographic card. Usually, these packs feature around 15 different cards, and there haven’t been any special cards only available in these promotions. However, because this year marks Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, this promotion could be bigger and more exciting than previous ones. We’ll share more details about the cards as soon as we have them.
We’re currently looking into a McDonald’s Japan promotion featuring Pikachu enjoying a hamburger as a possible clue. While it’s just a guess from fans, the promotion was very popular and sold out quickly, so it might suggest a similar event could happen again in 2026. Pikachu remains a popular character, making a re-release plausible.
Pokémon is becoming increasingly popular worldwide, and soon you’ll be able to find Pokémon cards at McDonald’s. Hopefully, these cards will stay in stock long enough for everyone to get some, unlike recent Pokémon card releases that have quickly sold out.
