It’s Always Sunny star’s new comedy is now available to watch on Netflix
As a seasoned gamer of life and pop culture, I must say that the arrival of “Incoming” on Netflix has sent waves of nostalgia coursing through my veins. Having grown up in the era of “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Can’t Hardly Wait,” it’s a delight to see a fresh take on the high school comedy genre from the minds behind “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
Now streaming on Netflix, the fresh comedy titled “Incoming” featuring Kaitlin Olson from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia“, can be enjoyed by viewers.
The movie, both penned and helmed by Dave and John Chernin (who previously wrote for It’s Always Sunny), narrates the story of a group of teenagers grappling with an early identity crisis while dealing with the pandemonium of their first high school party.
In this production, Olson takes on the role of one of the teenagers’ mothers. The cast also features Mason Thames from “The Black Phone,” Bobby Cannavale known for “Ant-Man,” Bardia Seiri who stars in “Grey’s Anatomy,” Ramon Reed from “Just Roll with It,” and Raphael Alejandro, an actor recognized in “Acapulco.”
The Chernin brothers drew inspiration for the novel, “Incoming,” from a party hosted by their childhood neighbor.
John shared with Tudum, “I recall myself and Dave seated near a window in the dark, gazing into our neighbor’s backyard where a wild high school party was taking place. That was hands down the most outrageous thing I’ve ever witnessed.”
As a gamer, I’ve been inspired by a heap of classic high school comedies that had me rolling on the floor. Titles like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Can’t Hardly Wait,” and “Superbad” were some of my favorites, adding a touch of nostalgia to my gaming world.
Dave mentioned, “For over fifteen years, our dream has been to create a film set in high school. We’ve jotted down ideas for this project in notepads, capturing small moments along the way.”
Regarding why Kaitlin Olson from “It’s Always Sunny” was chosen for the movie role, Dave explained: “We asked her to join us. What’s special about Kaitlin is she consistently delivers more than what’s written on the page. So, the character in the script was quite straightforward, I believe.”
However, once she steps onto the set, her energy is akin to untamed nature, uncovering humor in unexpected places – even where it wasn’t initially written.
Incoming is now available to watch on Netflix.
