Desordré, a high-end fashion store, has surprisingly reopened its doors just a few weeks after its parent company went out of business.
The high-end store, originally launched as a temporary shop in Sydney’s Darlinghurst in 2009, went into liquidation last month and owed a significant amount of money to creditors.
Surprisingly, the Darlinghurst store has reopened, according to an announcement from owner Shannon Thomas on social media.
Oh my gosh, you guys, she DID it! My absolute *favorite* boutique is officially open again! And not just open, but completely overflowing with all the newest, most gorgeous designer stuff! I checked it out today, and seriously, it’s like stepping into a dream. I need everything!
A representative from Mackay Goodwin, the firm handling Desordré’s liquidation, told Daily Mail that the ‘Desordré’ brand name isn’t actually owned by the company that went out of business.
The account has always been in Ms. Thomas’s personal name, not the company’s. This means it wasn’t considered a company asset and couldn’t be claimed when the company closed down.

They indicated this appears to be a personal project of the director, separate from the company that is closing down.
‘The liquidators have recovered all stock and property owned by the company.’
The brand has been able to relaunch smoothly, offering new products under the same familiar name but with a new owner. The Daily Mail has not implied any misconduct.
Documents filed with ASIC reveal the company went into liquidation on September 4th. Shortly after, the boutique disabled comments on all of its social media posts, even those from months prior.
According to reports, the company has debts to 85 different creditors. These include major brands like Ralph Lauren and Alex Perry, who are owed $729,000, and also 13 social media influencers, models, and stylists – among them Abbey Steanes from Byron Baes and Perth model Holly Young.
The company also owes money to a variety of other businesses, including clothing brands, model agencies, property owners, TikTok, and even services like trash removal, pest control, and lawn care.
Desordré, a French-inspired store meaning ‘disorder,’ had locations in Darlinghurst and Bondi Beach in Sydney, Armadale in Melbourne, and Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.
The fashion brand was adored by ‘It’ girls such as Dina Broadhurst.

Pip Edwards is also a longtime fan of the boutique.
Founder Ms. Thomas previously explained to news.com.au that they’ve been working with advisors to streamline the business and cut costs in an attempt to keep it afloat.
‘Unfortunately, after 15 years of operations, this culminated in the appointment of liquidators.’
She added she was ‘deeply disappointed’ to say goodbye to her business.
As of today, Desordré’s website is displaying a ‘maintenance’ message and is not accepting new orders.
