On my initial day working on that film set, I was expected to portray an English accent. Previously, in the seventh and eighth films, I had played minor roles where everyone else was using this accent. However, I opted for an Australian accent instead, and found it difficult to switch back.
Oh dear, it seems there are some resemblances in these two dialects. It’s not hard to imagine that Gleeson might have unintentionally switched one for the other on set. After all, he wasn’t alone – he was surrounded by many fellow actors in a high-pressure production environment. Frankly, this situation feels like a stressful dream.

The actor from Star Wars later revealed to Seth Meyers that his mistake in pronunciation during Harry Potter made him feel even more mortified. It wasn’t only the cast who picked up on it, but he also received a criticism from the director about how off-mark his accent portrayal was. As Gleeson explained:
Initially, I adopted an Australian accent during my first try, and there were around 300 people present on the set. The director shouted, “Cut!” followed by a prolonged silence. Eventually, he approached me and said, “It seems you’re adopting an Australian accent.
Oops, it doesn’t seem like this performance might be creating a favorable initial impact for an actor, especially given the importance of such a role in the popular _Harry Potter_ series. However, upon revisiting his scenes from the seventh and eighth films, I must admit that I didn’t notice any significant issues. So it appears that Gleeson was ultimately able to deliver a satisfactory performance.

In the near future, we’re anticipating the introduction of a new portrayal of Bill Weasley, as a result of the evolving “Harry Potter” television series. This book-to-screen adaptation is rumored to be more faithful to the books due to the abundance of hours for storytelling. Consequently, there’s a good chance we’ll see a lot more of the eldest Weasley child compared to the limited screen time that Gleeson had in the movies.
