‘It was like a slap in the face!’ Hearsay singer Suzanne Shaw reveals agony of being cut out of her father’s will as she claims her stepmother inherited everything
43-year-old singer Suzanne Shaw disclosed that she was excluded from her father’s will, an action she likened to a stinging blow.
In September 2012, her father Vincent Crowshaw, who was a cameraman, passed away. Since then, it seems that her family has experienced some disagreements or strife following his demise.
As a loyal follower, I’d like to share that a previous Emmerdale actress has disclosed a sad situation in her personal life. She shared that she has cut ties with her family due to the aftermath of an inheritance dispute and accusations that her stepmother took money meant to be evenly divided among all parties.
On Channel 5’s talk show hosted by Vanessa, the artist shared her personal experiences regarding the heated arguments that ensued following her father’s passing due to a brain tumor.
Suzanne expressed that her father passed away tragically, leaving our family in a state of division since he had remarried. While her brother received a share of the inheritance, it was only his business that he inherited. As a result, her stepmother ended up with everything, contrary to initial plans for an equal split.
After her remarriage, most things ended up with her relatives, leaving me with nothing. It feels like a harsh blow, as if my contributions didn’t matter. It’s almost as though I wasn’t considered important.

It’s similar to something I’ve experienced myself. It’s tough, indeed. This situation seems to create rifts among us. Regrettably, there are individuals who used to be significant in my life with whom I no longer communicate, and that’s unfortunate.
She made the shock confession on Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 show on Monday.
Television host Carrie Grant, aged 59, discussed with Suzanne that she and her spouse had just talked about dividing their shared assets equally among their offspring.
She added: ‘You’re literally setting your children up for war aren’t you?’
On Instagram, Supernanny Jo Frost expressed her thoughts on the exchange between the two women: “Amazing…such disappointing reactions from both sides, and let me add, one woman feels overlooked due to finances, while the other is apprehensive about creating discord.
‘It’s crucial for families to discuss their values and make choices guided by moral principles, rather than relying on their wealth alone when raising children. Everyone should remember that no one has the right to another person’s possessions. So, let’s have those important conversations.’
Previously, Suzanne mentioned the difficulty she felt about his passing. She expressed it as, “The most challenging part was seeing him decline so quickly. It was an incredibly tough period for our entire family.
Back in March 2012, cameraman Vincent was given a grave diagnosis – a stage 4 glioblastoma tumor, confirmed through blood tests and MRI scans. Despite undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy treatments, the tumor continued to grow without response. The heartbreaking news that followed was that Vincent’s illness was terminal, and he had between 12 to 18 months left to live.
Suzanne stated: ‘The specialists warn about how critical the situation is, yet it isn’t until you witness it yourself that you truly trust their words. I had always felt that my father was invincible and that a miracle would happen soon. He’d pull through. They’d successfully remove the tumor.’

Six months following his diagnosis in September 2012, Vincent passed away surrounded by his daughter and other close family members.
Actress Suzanne noted that the transformation she observed in him over the past few weeks was equally astonishing, not just on a mental level, but also physically.
In his later years, he became wheelchair-bound and experienced frequent seizures. Towards the end, he exhibited extreme confusion, failing to comprehend his surroundings, and eventually, his body succumbed to the strain.
During the summer, he reached a stage where he understood that his days were numbered. Instead of giving up, he declared, “I’ll spend the remainder of my life living as I choose,” and he indeed lived by that decision.
‘Everyone stood with him, and it was quite pleasant. We fulfilled all his desires, including watching the TV shows he enjoyed most and participating in activities he cherished.’
As a devoted admirer, I gathered our beloved one’s cherished tunes and we all congregated, sharing heartfelt stories as if orchestrating the perfect farewell he had always dreamt of – enveloped by his most intimate kin. In that poignant moment, we bid him adieu, leaving no sentiment unspoken.
Suzanne found her suffering intensified due to her three-year marriage to Radio 1 DJ Jason King falling apart, happening at the same time.
At that point, it was solely her son Corey, born from her relationship with actor Darren Day, who provided Suzanne with the strength to persevere.
‘There were many days when everything felt too much and things got on top of me,’ she said.
Grieving is something I went through, and I managed by focusing on each day individually. It was an extremely challenging period in my life, yet looking back, it has made me stronger.
